Partizan Entering a New Season With Few Expectations
Partizan are entering the new season with not-so-high expectations considering they lost a majority of their roster from last year, while their replacements were usually not their first selections. Carlik Jones was the only player to extend his contract for one more year.
Joan Penarroya's side played a series of preseason games earlier this month, starting with a 94-83 loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv, then winning two in a row against Fuenlabrada 98-55 and Besiktas 89-71.
After losing to PAOK 100-99, the Black and Whites wrapped up preparations with a great performance against last season's EuroCup winners Bourg, winning 101-77.
Milano Starting Strong Despite Major Changes
Milano started the new season by defeating one of their biggest rivals, Virtus Bologna, 80-71 in the Italian Super Cup semifinals, limiting their opposition to just 23 points in the first half. Moses Wright was named man of the match, scoring 20 points.
In the grand final, they locked horns with Venezia and won dramatically in overtime 94-87. Wright dominated the floor once again, landing clutch shots and finishing with 23 points. Their two-point shot selection was excellent here, going 26/43.
There are many doubters claiming coach Peppe Poeta is not the right fit for Milano, plus some of the best players from last season, like Shavon Shields and Zach LeDay, have left the team.
