Slovenia with and without Luka Doncic are two different teams, and his absence from these WC qualifiers has taken a massive toll on results, with the team claiming just three wins in seven appearances.

After wrapping up the first phase with disappointing losses against Estonia and Sweden, the Dragons opened the second stage with a convincing 92-67 defeat to France in Paris on Thursday.

They had just 31% shooting from the field, while only two players, Gregor Glas and Martin Krampelj, scored double-digit points, with 10 points each.

Hungary Riding High on Confidence

Hungary have never participated at the Mundobasket before, but their hopes and confidence skyrocketed after winning four out of seven qualifying matches so far.

They looked fantastic in the second-stage opening match against Estonia at home on Thursday, taking an 85-67 victory. Zoltan Perl played a key role once again, landing 10 of his 15 FG attempts to finish with 22 points.

This was their second win in a row, beating Belgium 85-70 in the final round of the previous stage, where Perl topped the charts once again with 19 points.

Slovenia v Hungary

I expect a reaction from the Slovenian team after losing three games in a row. Even with their recent struggles, I feel they have more quality than Hungary, so a home win in a –1.5 handicap is the best bet.
