Their recent form has been poor, suffering six consecutive defeats from mid-July into early August. They ended last month with a heavy 104-72 home loss to the Minnesota Lynx, losing the rebounding battle 36-26 while shooting just 55% from the free-throw line.
Toronto opened August in similar fashion with a 96-79 defeat to the Golden State Valkyries in San Francisco, making just seven of their 30 three-point attempts while committing 14 turnovers. Nyara Sabally led the team with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Valkyries Almost Playoff Bound
Golden State Valkyries are currently among the leading contenders to win the WNBA title, sitting third in the highly competitive Western Conference with a 20-9 record.
Their recent results have been mixed. After back-to-back victories over the Indiana Fever (88-75) and Washington Mystics (74-69), they suffered defeats in the return meeting with Washington (90-82) and against the Phoenix Mercury (91-89).
The Valkyries bounced back in style two nights ago with a dominant 96-79 home victory over Toronto. Janelle Salaün starred with 24 points in an impressive all-round display.
