Drake's latest big-money bet was a loser!

Rap star Drake missed out on almost $3million after his patriotic punt on the Copa America ended in failure.

The 37-year-old “God’s Plan” performer got swept up in his native Canada’s sensational run to the semi-finals of the soccer tournament.

Having successfully emerged from a group that featured both Argentina and Chile, they advanced from the last-16 with a penalty shootout win over Venezuela.

That earned them another crack at Lionel Messi and his Argentinian team-mates, and Drake was so confident that his country could pull off a massive upset that he put his money where his mouth is.

The Stake ambassador placed a bet of $300,000 on Canada in the 1x2 market, at odds of 9.60, and stood to win $2,880,000 if the Maple Leafs shocked the world.

That decision backfired on him.

Canada lost 2-0 to Argentina in the opening game of the tournament, and Tuesday night’s semi-final clash between the two nations ended with the same final score.

The Maple Leafs fell behind to a Julian Alvarez goal on 22 minutes, and their Copa America dream was then all but ended on 51 minutes when Messi wrapped up the scoring.

Argentina now await the winners of tonight’s semi-final meeting between Uruguay and Colombia, and they remain the favourites to lift the trophy no matter who advances.

You can back Messi & Co. with bookmaker Stake, and when you sign up for a new account suing Stake promo code HUGE you can claim a 200% matched deposit welcome bonus.
