Interim WBC flyweight champion Galal Yafai is a former Olympic gold medallist with a professional record of 9-0 (7 KOs).

Yafai made his professional debut in February 2022 following a highly successful amateur career, and he quickly climbed the ladder.

He won the WBC international title in his first pro outing, stopping Carlos Vado Bautista in the fifth round, and then retained it with a second-round stoppage of Miguel Cartagena.

The 32-year-old Englishman then beat Gohan Rodriguez by split decision, before knocking out Moises Calleros in the fourth round of their non-title fight.

Yafai then went on to make three more successful defences of his international crown, starting with a first-round stoppage of Tommy Frank.

He then beat Rocco Santomauro on points and Augustin Mauro Gauto via eighth round stoppage.

The English fighter then earned himself a fight for the interim WBC title by knocking out Sergio Oliva in the third, and he took his big chance by stopping Sunny Edwards in the sixth.

Francisco Rodriguez Jr is a veteran fighter with a professional record of 38-6 (26 KOs) with 1 draw.

Rodriguez Jr made his professional debut in October 2010 and has fought almost exclusively in his native Mexico for much of his career.

He has fought for and won several minor titles during his career, and he comes into this fight having won each of his last two fights.

The 31-year-old Mexican rebounded from a points loss to Junto Nakatani in November 2022 with a decision win over Joel Cardova in January 2023.

Rodriguez Jr then made it back-to-back outings a year later, when he stopped Jose Javier Torres in the third round.
