South Africa Women enter their T20I clash against Pakistan as clear favorites, having won their last two series against them and leading the recent head-to-head 3-2. Key performers like Laura Wolvaardt and Ayabonga Khaka are in great form, though the Proteas will need better support from their middle and lower order. Pakistan’s recent struggles are offset by stand-out efforts from Muneeba Ali and Fatima Sana. Both teams urgently need a win to improve their chances in a tightly contested group.

South Africa lead 3-2 in their last five T20I matches against Pakistan.

South Africa Women Form

The Proteas did well to restrict Australia to 172/8 in their first match in the World Cup and the Proteas then got off to a good start to reach 48/2, only to collapse to 107 all out to lose by 65 runs.

Ayabonga Khaka (2/33), Nonkululeko Mlaba (2/22) and Nadine de Klerk (2/35) were all on form with the ball and restricted Australia to 62/4, only for their middle-order to rescue their side.

Laura Wolvaardt top-scored again for her side with an innings of 44 off 39 balls and got good support from Nadine de Klerk (25 off 22 balls). Marizanne Kapp’s 12 off six balls had the Proteas well placed at 82/3 in the 12th over before they collapsed, with none of their last six batters reaching double figures.

Pakistan Women Form

Pakistan have been frustrated by two abandoned matches in their last five contests but lost their other three matches, including their opener in the World Cup against India.

Pakistan’s bowlers did well to keep India to 110/4 in the 15th over, with Sadia Iqbal (2/41) and Fatima Sana (2/33) both picking up top order wickets.

Muneeba Ali (41 off 35), Gull Feroza (12 off 9) and Ayesha Zafar (12 off 8) took Pakistan to 75/3 before they lost their last seven wickets for 31 runs to go down by 64 runs.

Team news

Both sides are heavily reliant on their leading batters and will be calling on the rest of their top orders to put good runs on the board in a match both sides want to win to push up towards the semi-final spots in what is a really tough group.
