New Zealand have claimed a 3-1 lead in their ODI series against the West Indies after winning three consecutive matches. Despite a strong first game, the Windies have faltered, with their batters being bowled out inside 50 overs in recent matches. Standout performances include Mark Chapman’s runs for New Zealand and Gudakesh Motie’s wickets for the West Indies. Team changes are expected for both sides before the final game, but New Zealand are tipped to finish the series strongly, with top forms in both their batting and bowling lineups.

New Zealand Dominant in H2H

New Zealand have won four and lost one of their last five ODIs against the West Indies, including winning the last three in a row.

West Indies Disappointing Since Opener

The West Indies will be looking for a stronger performance with the bat after being bowled out inside 50 overs in their last three ODI defeats to New Zealand.

Ackeem Auguste (33 off 50) and Amir Jangoo (51 off 73) were the only West Indies top order batters to score over 13. Gudakesh Motie weighed in with a vital 41 off 56 balls to lift the home side to 188 all out off 44.4 overs.

Matthew Forde (2/44) struck twice inside the first three overs to reduce New Zealand to 6/2. Gudakesh Motie knocked over three of the New Zealand top six and added another two wickets to return figures of 5/47. His efforts were in vain as New Zealand slipped home for the win with one wicket in hand off 44.1 overs.

New Zealand in Red Hot Form

New Zealand will be full of confidence after recovering from 1-0 down to win three matches in a row. A fourth straight victory would leave them feeling very positive about their progress in the format ahead of next year’s World Cup.

Mitchell Santner (2/36), Matthew Fisher (3/40) and Michael Bracewell (2/35) bowled superbly to roll the West Indies for 188 off 44.4 overs.

Their batters were struggling at 46/3 inside 10 overs before Mark Chapman (80 off 82) got New Zealand back on track. He was well supported by Michael Bracewell (32 off 31) and Mitchell Santner (34* off 56), who gave them the legs to scrape home for a one-wicket win with five overs in hand.

West Indies vs New Zealand Predicted Lineups & Team news

With Sherfane Rutherford’s best score in the series sitting at just 22 not out, the West Indies may consider bringing Shimron Hetmyer into the middle order for his first ODI since June 2025. With the series already decided, it could be a good chance to test him. New Zealand may also rotate their lineup, with Ben Lister or Kristian Clarke possible options.

West Indies (possible XI): Ackeem Auguste, Justin Greaves, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (c), Amir Jangoo, Sherfane Shimron Hetmyer, Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, Vitel Lawes.

New Zealand (possible XI): Henry Nicholls, Will Young, Nick Kelly, Mark Chapman, Tom Latham, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (c), Nathan Smith, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher, Jayden Lennox.

Verdict

New Zealand are tipped to win at odds of 1.49, with Keacy Carty, Gudakesh Motie, Mark Chapman and Mitchell Santner backed to star with bat and ball.
