Head To Head

James Wade and Ricky Evans have faced one another ten times in the PDC. Wade dominates the head-to-head standings 8-2, and beat Evans 5-2 on their most recent meeting in the group stage of the 2025 Grand Slam.

James Wade Form

Following three first match losses in a row, James Wade was delighted when he was drawn against Japanese opponent, Ryusei Azemoto in Round One. "The Machine" took care of his opponent in a comfortable fashion, losing just one leg and ended the game with a 95 average.

Wade has been in excellent form on the tour this term, climbing back inside the Top 8 in the world rankings. The 42-year-old reached the final of the World Matchplay and the UK Open, losing on both occasions to Luke Littler. Wade also ended a near three-year wait for a tournament victory on the floor, beating Andrew Gilding, Gian van Veen and Scott Williams when winning PC19.

Ricky Evans Form

Ricky Evans has become a fan's favourite at the Ally Pally, thanks to some flamboyant costumes, crazy celebrations, and some excellent arrows. "Rapid" came through his opening match of the tournament for a seventh year in a row last Friday, beating Hong Kong qualifier Man Lok Leung 3-0.

Despite losing to James Wade is his final group match, Ricky Evans enjoyed a solid run at the Grand Slam of Darts, beating Stefan Bellmont and Gerwyn Price in the group, and Luke Woodhouse in the second stage, before a 16-9 loss to Price in the quarter-finals. That was the first time that Evans had reached the latter stages of a PDC Major, and he's carried that momentum with him to the World Championships.

Verdict

JAMES WADE hinted that Ricky Evans adopts an almost "Snakebite" persona when he plays at the World Championships. True, Evans does seem to raise his game when playing in front of the Ally Pally faithful, and I'm sure he'll give Wade a good match.

The seventh seed cruised through his opening round of the tournament. Wade has been playing extremely well on tour this season, he's no stranger to the latter stages of the World Championships, and boasts an overwhelming head-to-head record over his Round 2 opponent.

I'm predicting a 3-1 victory for "The Machine".
