Aurora Gaming and 9z Team square off in the ESL Pro League Season 24 opener, with Aurora entering as strong favorites. After ramping up impressively with deep runs in recent tournaments and decisive wins over top teams, Aurora’s squad looks formidable. In contrast, 9z Team have struggled to maintain earlier momentum and posted lackluster results lately. Unless 9z can rediscover their underdog spark, Aurora should have the upper hand. Aurora Gaming enter this match as favourites, which comes as no surprise after what they’ve shown in the recent weeks.
After a relatively quiet run since July, Aurora found their traction in StarLadder StarSeries and made a run to the grand finals, beating big names such as Natus Vincere and Team Vitality en route to the silver medal.
9z Team have also shown promise this season but have cooled off significantly since July, failing to produce many notable results. In this form, 9z are likely going to struggle against the high-flying Aurora.

Aurora Gaming Are Ramping Up
Aurora Gaming are a fairly exciting team to follow at ESL Pro League Season 24, having shown great form last month, with a run to the StarLadder StarSeries Fall grand finals.
It was a very promising performance from the Turkish squad, who ramped up during the event and picked up a few big scalps. Notably, Aurora defeated NRG (2-0), Natus Vincere (2-0), and even Team Vitality (2-1), before losing the grand finals against the Bees 1-3.
With all key players, including XANTARES, in great form, Aurora Gaming should not be ignored. However, they still need to prove themselves against elite rosters before we can talk about a potential deep run in ESL Pro League.

9z Team Are Not in Great Shape
9z Team are recognised as potent outsiders who can catch top-rated teams off guard. However, they’ve slowly been losing the tag of dangerous underdogs of late, with poor performances at BLAST Open Fall (13th-16th) and FISSURE Playground #3 (ninth-12th).
While 9z Team are still a squad who will punish mistakes and challenge higher-rated teams, their showings in the last few weeks inspire little confidence.

| September 9 | FISSURE Playground #3 | MIBR | 0-2 (L) |

Verdict
9z Team have looked solid this season, but less so in the recent few weeks, having won just one game from the last seven played.
They remain potent outsiders, but given how strong Aurora have been lately and how quickly they’ve been ramping up, 9z don't seem able to properly challenge the Turkish squad.
