G2 Esports Are Ramping Up
G2 Esports have not found much success this season, but have had their moments.
They placed third in the Roman Imperium Cup VII in March and, in April, won Stake Ranked Episode 1. In bigger events, success was much harder to come by, even lately, with a top-eight finish at IEM Rio, fifth-sixth at BLAST Rivals Spring, and fifth-eighth in PGL Astana.
Despite failing to win any big events, G2 Esports entered the IEM Cologne Major as one of the most experienced teams, fielding players who’ve previously featured in Major events.
Over the last few months, G2 Esports have been getting better, and it seems like they only needed time to adjust to the arrival of NertZ. Even in Cologne, they’ve yet to disappoint, with two wins against M80 and Monte.
But as with many other squads in Stage 2 of the Major, G2 still have a lot to prove.

FUT Esports Can Bite
FUT Esports made a name for themselves early in the year when they began attending larger events. While success was hard to come by in the opening few months, FUT then placed fourth in ESL Pro League Season 23 and won PGL Bucharest in March and April.
Since then, FUT Esports have left a positive mark in BLAST Rivals Spring and Intel Extreme Masters Atlanta, but did not come close to securing the title. Regardless, they have proven themselves capable of facing stronger teams, and the same continued in Cologne, as FUT have already beaten B8 and TYLOO.
On the other hand, beating B8 and TYLOO is hardly a major accomplishment, so while FUT have previous strong results to show, they still have much to prove as they get closer to securing an invite to Stage 3 of the Major.
