This is a match between two elite teams, and as with most games like these, there is not a lot to separate them quality-wise.
Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, and T1 are playing at such a high level that even the smallest mistake can lead to a loss, so betting on either side of these contests is purely speculating which team will slip.
With that in mind, it is fair to question why Gen.G are viewed as such massive favourites. On the other side, Gen.G have looked far less sloppy than other top contenders in the LCK.
- Gen.G are very stable
- Hanwha Life Esports are strong, but sloppy
- Gen.G appear more stable
Gen.G Have Hanwha Life Esports’ Number This Season

Gen.G Are Very Stable
Gen.G topped Legend Group with a 19-7 record, and they’ve not disappointed in the first match of the playoffs, sweeping KT Rolster 3-0.
Despite not playing an official match in a while, Gen.G delivered and shook off the rust fairly quickly. They had a close map one, but that can be attributed to the long break; even on map one, Gen.G looked in full control.
There were some funny moments, but the series was in Gen.G’s hands. They took a composed approach and slowly ground KT Rolster down with superior map movement and macro, while showing an excellent ability to capitalise on opponents’ mistakes.
Across the entire split, Gen.G have been exactly that – a composed and stable team, capable of punishing mistakes. They’re looking a lot more like Gen.G from 2025, and that’s a scary sight.

Hanwha Life Esports Can Be Volatile
Hanwha Life Esports made it to the LCK 2026 Playoffs upper bracket final with a reverse-sweep win against T1. While it is admirable that HLE managed to win the series, the whole match was a complete fiesta, with both teams making mistakes.
HLE should’ve won the first map, but threw it badly. In the third game, Hanwha Life Esports took over with an explosive early game, and the same thing happened on map four.
Game five was closer, with a few close fights which could’ve ended either way.
Overall, a very aggressive approach from Hanwha Life Esports, but they’ve also had a few questionable moments and iffy decision-making. This was a problem against T1, and it will be an even bigger problem against Gen.G, who are extremely good at punishing mistakes.

Verdict
Qualitatively, there is not much to set these two teams apart, as they both field world-class players. However, the eye test makes Gen.G the more likely victors, purely because they’re more stable, less likely to make mistakes, and much more efficient at punishing errors.
Hanwha Life Esports can take over games with their aggressive early game, but they can be dumb at times, and that has been their downfall many times. Against Gen.G, these mistakes will be that much more noticeable and punishable.
