Hanwha Life Esports vs T1 Predictions

Hanwha Life Esports and T1 will kick off thier 2026 campaigns on Friday, January 16, when they face off in the first round of LoL Champions Korea (LCK) Cup 2026.

Both teams have made some changes this offseason. Hanwha Life Esports added Kanavi as a new jungler and took Gumayushi from T1, who replaced the star ADC with Peyz.

On paper, both teams have made upgrades, and they've already played a competitive match in December, suggesting another close affair is on the cards for Friday.

  • Hanwha Life Esports with two new players
  • T1 won the KeSPA Cup in December and look in excellent shape
  • T1 are known to be slow starters in LCK

Hanwha Life Esports Are Seeking Revenge

Hanwha Life Esports enter 2026 with two changes. They acquired Gumayusi from T1 and Kanavi as a new jungler. There is a case to be made that both players are upgrades, granted, there are some questions of how quickly Kanavi will re-adjust to playing in the LCK after spending years in the LPL.

The other major change is the coaching staff, with DanDy leaving for Nongshim RedForce. Homme steps in as his replacement, as a solid coach who previously coached Kanavi on JD Gaming.

All in all, Hanwha Life Esports look very good and should be viewed as a clear top-three, alongside T1 and Gen.G. Unlike the other two teams, HLE have more question marks, but a very high upside.

Hanwha Life Esports Squad & Team News

Hanwha Life Esports have acquired Kanavi as a new jungler and Gumayushi as a new ADC.

  • Choi "Zeus" Woo-je – top lane
  • Seo "Kanavi" Jin-hyeok – jungle
  • Kim "Zeka" Geon-woo – mid lane
  • Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyung – ADC
  • Yu "Delight" Hwan-jung – support

T1 Will Want to Keep Their Momentum Going

With Gumayusi leaving T1 for Hanwha Life Esports, T1 have lost another core member to their rivals. However, despite having huge shoes to fill, T1 found a solution and picked up Peyz who has already proven his worth by helping T1 win the KeSPA Cup in December.

It is also worth saying that, regardless of how good Gumayusi has been, T1's main strength comes from the Oner-Keira duo, so it is unlikely T1 will be much weaker or stronger in the 2026 season.

On a more positive note, Peyz has the potential to become the best ADC in the world, especially now that he is in a very stacked roster.

All things considered, T1 are bound to have another excellent season, as there is no reason to believe they will struggle in any form. That said, T1 are known to be slow starters, so I would tame my expectations early in the season.

T1 Squad & Team News

T1 enter the 2026 season with Peyz as a new ADC.

  • Choi "Doran" Hyeon-jun – top lane
  • Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun– jungle
  • Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok – mid lane
  • Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan – ADC
  • Ryu "Keria" Min-seok – support

Verdict

This is a treat for LoL fans, as two serious LCK Cup title contenders clash in the first week of play. To make things even more interesting, Hanwha Life Esports now field two former T1 players, including Gumayushi, who will want to prove he can be just as good without Keria.

On paper, T1 look better, mainly due to their success against HLE during the KeSPA Cup. But it was a close game, and we know T1 are slow starters, making Hanwha Life Esports a very intriguing pick at outsider odds.
