Sitting atop the power rankings are Hanwha Life Esports, who have had quite a run over the last few months. They’ve won the LoL Champions Korea (LCK) title and just a week ago added a Mid-Season Invitational trophy to their cabinet.
Having established themselves as the world’s strongest team at MSI, Hanwha Life Esports will head to France with high expectations. However, fatigue could play a role in their EWC title campaign.
Korea’s Gen.G are listed up there with Hanwha Life as one of the main title contenders – despite placing third in LCK Road. However, Gen.G have previously shown strong form, reached the semifinals of First Stand and won the LCK Cup.
EWC represents a perfect opportunity for Gen.G to bounce back and claim their second gold medal of the season. And despite failing to make a run for the title in First Stand and LCK Road to MSI, Gen.G have enough talent and experience to challenge anyone.
MSI 2026 finalists, Bilibili Gaming, join the list of serious title contenders at the EWC, having proven themselves as an elite team this season. The Chinese squad have so far won both LPL titles, as well as First Stand, but they came one map short of claiming the MSI trophy.
Despite their Golden Road ending in South Korea, Bilibili Gaming are still a serious threat to win EWC, the final split of LPL, and potentially the World Championship. However, given the packed and challenging schedule they’ve had to navigate, BLG could, like Hanwha Life, struggle with fatigue.
T1 round up a relatively short list of serious EWC title contenders. Like HLE and Gen.G, T1 have been having a decent season, with a fourth-place finish in the LCK Cup and a silver medal from the LCK Road to MSI.
Their run at MSI, however, was disappointing, as T1 crashed out in fifth-sixth place, following a crushing loss to G2 Esports. The early elimination from MSI, however, does not make T1 any less of a threat.
