LYON have had Cloud9's number this season, having won three of the five head-to-head clashes. That includes the most recent two, at the end of the spring split and in the sixth week of the summer split.
Even without knowing the H2H record, LYON have looked like the better team this season, having emerged as one of LCS’s top dogs with back-to-back titles from LCS Lock-In and Spring.
Considering LYON have shown no signs of slowing down in the final split, it is hard not to expect them to do what they’ve done three times before and take down Cloud9.
- LYON have beaten Cloud9 in their last two meetings
- Cloud9 haven’t looked as potent this split
- LYON should be favoured to win

LYON Look Ready To Contest the LCS Trophy
LYON played their last game on September 6, when they swept Disguised 2-0 in the final week of LCS 2026 Summer regular season, to lock in the no.1 spot in the group.
With a 6-1 record and a +11 map differential, LYON emerged as the best-performing team of the split, and with that, they’ve retained their tag as the team to beat in the playoffs. For the most part, LYON have been excellent, outside of some shaky moments in a few of the games played.
They’ve made very few errors in their games, and with Inspired retaining his position as the league’s best player, LYON have become very difficult to fade.

Cloud9 Have More to Prove
Cloud9 made it to the second round of the LCS 2026 Summer playoffs with a 3-0 sweep of Shopify Rebellion. An expected result from a game that played out as anticipated.
The first map was a tight one, and while Cloud9 opted for a more early-game composition, they managed to outshine SR in the late game, found beneficial fights, and strolled to a victory.
The second map was even more one-sided, with Cloud9 finding early momentum, gaining sizeable leads, and snowballing to a victory. The third map was a bit all over the place, with teams exchanging punches until Cloud9 ground out a win to close out the series 3-0.
Shopify Rebellion did not put up much of a fight, so it is hard to praise Cloud9 too much. They looked good on paper in that game, but realistically, Cloud9 haven’t shown many memorable things on the day.

Verdict
LYON enter the LCS Summer upper bracket semifinals as heavy favourites, and for all the right reasons. They are two-time LCS champions, and the most dominant North American team of the year.
Besides emerging as LCS’s top dogs, LYON have also handled Cloud9 in their last two meetings with relative ease. While Cloud9 are no pushovers and are known as a team who step it up in the knockout stages, their performances in the summer split haven’t been at the same level as LYON’s.
