Shopify Rebellion are fresh off a 0-3 loss against Cloud9. It was a very unflattering game, in which Shopify Rebellion showed many cracks, effectively beating themselves rather than Cloud9 winning.

In a similar vein, Sentinels lost to FlyQuest in their last outing, having made a few too many errors that cost them the series. While they lost 0-3, the game was closer than what that number suggests – but that doesn’t take away from the mountain of issues Sentinels had on the day and the many slip-ups they’ve produced.

Both teams looked sloppy in their last outing. But considering what they’ve shown this entire split, it is easy to see why Sentinels are favoured.

Shopify Rebellion Are a Bottom-Tier Team

Shopify Rebellion started the LCS Summer Playoffs with a 0-3 loss against Cloud9.

The first map of the series was a very close one in the early game, before Cloud9 took off in the mid-to-late game, with better neutral objective control. The second map started in C9’s favour as they managed to accumulate a massive early lead and never let go.

The series decided was a complete fiesta, extremely bloody. C9 again got ahead early, but then bumbled a few chances, allowing Shopify Rebellion to catch up. Things were looking up for the underdogs, until they ran out of steam in the late game.

Shopify Rebellion kept up with Cloud9 at times, but they made many errors and couldn't execute their plan well. It was a clear indication of a quality difference between the two squads. All in all, SR did not impress, and the end result of that match was more Shopify beating themselves rather than Cloud9 winning.

Sentinels started their playoffs campaign with a rough 0-3 loss against FlyQuest. The series was not necessarily as one-sided as that result suggests.

The first map could’ve ended either way, before FlyQuest secured the fifth dragon and Baron. The second map started with a strong early game from FlyQuest, who managed to snowball to a victory off the early leads. Nothing more to say.

The third and final map was close again. Sentinels managed to pull away in the mid-to-late game, got the Baron, but then got too greedy and lost it all.

Not the most inspiring performance from Sentinels, who bungled their chances. This also isn’t a great look for them ahead of the clash with Shopify Rebellion.

Shopify Rebellion v Sentinels

Shopify Rebellion handled Sentinels once before this split, but entered this match as underdogs. This comes as no surprise, as SR’s last head-to-head win was arguably a fluke, considering they’ve looked notably worse than Sentinels and most other teams this split.

Even in their loss to Cloud9, SR proved they are a bottom-tier team, having failed to find much traction, and their execution was lacking in many areas. Sentinels haven’t had the best showing against FlyQuest either, choking a few times and making critical errors.

Sentinels are no strangers to shooting themselves in the foot, but they are also capable of higher highs than Shopify Rebellion. While somewhat unreliable, Sentinels are a better team.
