Top Esports and JD Gaming face off on January 14 for the start of the LPL 2026 Split 1. JD Gaming comes in with major expectations but also significant roster changes, raising questions about synergy. The two former CTBC Flying Oyster players are particularly highlighted, but their integration remains crucial. Top Esports, despite being underdogs, retain key components from last year's success, albeit minus Kanavi. The match is anticipated to be closely contested with both teams looking to cement early season form. Fans can watch the clash live on LPL streaming platforms and Stake.

Top Esports vs JD Gaming Predictions

Top Esports and JD Gaming are set to clash on Wednesday, January 14, on the opening day of League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2026 Split 1, in what should be an exciting affair.

The two teams enter the 2026 season with high expectations, perhaps even more so JD Gaming, who seem to be hyped up a lot due to the arrival of the former CTBC Flying Oyster duo.

While great players, there are questions of how they will fit in with the rest of the team – and most of all, how fast JD Gaming will reach their full potential.

There are question marks above both new rosters, which only adds ot the volatility of early-season games.

  • Both teams have added new players
  • JD Gaming seem overrated
  • A close game is not out of the question

JD Gaming with High Expectations

JD Gaming enters the 2026 season with many roster changes, both to their players and coaching staff.

Notably, they signed mid/jungle from the CTBC Flying Oyster JunJia and HongQ, who had an excellent run in 2025. However, looking at the new lineup, there are some questions about synergy and chemistry, even though on paper, JDG look very strong.

This appears to be a very aggressive roster, but fundamentally sound, with some of the top players in their respective roles. This explains the massive hype around JD Gaming, even though there is a world where it does not work out.

The two CFO players, in particular, will have to adjust quickly to a new league and new teammates, which could especially be hard for HongQ.

There is potential, but also a lot of downside with this roster. Note that JDG are very hyped up due to the arrival of JunJua and HongQ, but the reality is that they are a bit overrated.

JD Gaming Squad & Team News

JD Gaming have signed Junjia as a new jungler, HongQ as a new mid laner, and a new bottom lane duo, GALA and Vampire.

  • Xu "Xiaoxu" Xingzu – top lane
  • Yu "JunJia" Chun-chia– jungle
  • Tsai "hongQ" Ming-hong – mid lane
  • Chen "GALA" Wei – ADC
  • Zhao "Vampire" Zhecan – support

Top Esports with Big Changes

Top Esports enter the new season with a new jungler and ACD, and a new coaching staff, with the latter being the most impactful.

TES were great last season, but just didn't reach their full potential until LoL Worlds, where Top Esports proved they can perform on the big stage.

Losing Kanavi for 2026 is a huge blow; however, overall, this roster is very stacked, and if JackeyLove returns, TES could be in for another strong season. The key pieces that made Top Esports strong in 2025 are here, so I would not sleep on them.

Top Esports Squad & Team News

Top Esports have signed a new jungler, Naiyou, and ADC JiaQi.

  • Bai "369" Jiahao – top lane
  • Yang "Naiyou" Zijian– jungle
  • Lin "Creme" Jian – mid lane
  • Zi "JiaQi" Jiaqi– ADC
  • Wang "Fengyue" Runlai – support

Verdict

The big question with Top Esports is how well Naiyou fits in with the team and whether he can replace Kanavi, at least to some extend. This uncertainty explains why TES are viewed as underdogs for this match. However, the hype surrounding JD Gaming also plays a part here.

Even though JD Gaming are not weak, they are not as strong as many believe. They have a lot of question marks above them following all the roster changes, and while things could work out, they'll have to show it for me to believe it.
