Aberdeen vs Queen's Park Predictions & Tips - BTTS on the Cards in League Cup Clash

Aberdeen hosts Queen's Park at Pittodrie for their second Premier Sports Cup group match. Aberdeen aims to build on their solid start, but Queen's Park arrives in fine form, unbeaten and with a scoring edge. While the Dons hold a head-to-head advantage and field a strong squad including midweek hero Kevin Nisbet, their defensive vulnerabilities mean both teams are tipped to score. Key players and recent signings may impact the lineup, but expect an open and competitive contest with goals at both ends.

Aberdeen vs Queen's Park Predictions

Aberdeen welcome Queen's Park to Pittodrie on Saturday, looking to make it two wins from two in the Premier Sports Cup group stage.

While expected to pick up the points, Aberdeen should be wary of a Queen’s Park side that has made a solid start to their campaign.

I have a small on both teams to score at Pittodrie.

BTTS Backed at Pittodrie

  • Aberdeen conceded at least 1 goal in 9 of their last 13 matches (competitive fixtures)
  • Aberdeen won 4-1 when they last hosted Queens Park in 2025
  • Queens Park scored 13 goals in their last 5 matches

Aberdeen Hold the H2H Advantage

Aberdeen and Queen’s Park have met in the League Cup in each of the last two seasons. The Dons claimed a 1-0 win in 2024 before a 4-1 success in last season’s group phase.

Dons Off to Solid Start

Aberdeen opened their League Cup campaign with a solid if unspectacular 2-0 victory against Brora Rangers earlier this week.

After a goalless opening 35 minutes, Kevin Nisbet’s penalty opened the scoring before the Scotland striker settled the tie with a second-half strike.

The Premiership side controlled the contest throughout and rarely looked troubled as they claimed three points in their first competitive fixture of the new campaign.

The Dons have been in mixed early-season form, recording three wins and two defeats from five games played.

Steven Robinson’s men looked a little vulnerable defensively in a surprise 6-3 defeat against League One opponents Ross County, while they also slipped to a 1-0 reversal at Dutch side Twente.

Queen's Park in Fine Form

Queen's Park make the long trip north to Pittodrie with confidence growing from a strong start to their League Cup campaign.

Sean Crighton’s men began their season with a fine 3-1 win against Brora Rangers before an impressive 2-0 road win at Kelty Hearts last weekend.

Experienced winger Anthony Connoly stepped off the bench to open the scoring at Kelty before fellow substitute Jack Hamilton wrapped up the points.

The Glasgow-based Championship side also picked up some promising pre-season results, with wins secured against Gretna (5-0) and Clyde (3-1) at the end of June.

Aberdeen vs Queen's Park Team News

Aberdeen: (4-2-3-1) Dimitar Mitov; Dylan Lobban, Lewis Mayo, Dan Happe, Nesta Guinness-Walker; Brad Lyons, Connor Ronan; Tony Yogane, Afeez Aremu, Leighton Smith; Kevin Nisbet.

Aberdeen boss Robinson could rotate his squad after Tuesday's victory, but the Dons are still expected to field a strong side.

Kevin Nisbet is likely to retain his place as the lone striker after his midweek brace against Brora.

Kusini Yengi misses out with a torn thigh muscle.

Goalkeeper Marius Muller signed a two-year deal with the Dons on Thursday and could feature in the matchday squad.

Head coach Robinson, who has added 11 new faces this summer, admitted he is still on the lookout for new signings.

"A manager always needs to bring in more," he said.

"We're still looking, and there's still areas we need to be stronger. There's players, I believe will leave the club in the coming weeks.

"We need to hit the ground running and do our signings early so you're prepared. We've got our eyes on other people, but there's people that need to leave as well. The squad is too big at the moment."

Queen's Park: (4-3-3) Milosz Sliwinski; Carlo Pignatiello, Ben Brannan, Oliver Fisher, Matty Shiels; Louis Longridge, Jack Hamilton, Aidan Connolly; Lewis Stewart, Nikolay Todorov, Callum Smith.

Head coach Crichton is likely to make some changes to his first XI on Saturday.

Aidan Connolly and Jack Hamilton are expected to earn recalls after their goalscoring exploits against Kelty.

Verdict

Queen's Park have made an encouraging start to their League Cup campaign, and they could repeat last season’s feat of scoring at Pittodrie.

I have a stake on both teams to score on Saturday.
