Arsenal vs Man City Preview

Arsenal are a solid side that rarely loses and Man City are in hard-to-beat domestic form. Neither side will want to lose this EFL Cup final and a hard-fought draw is likely at Wembley.

  • Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 14 matches.
  • Arsenal have drawn 3 of their last 4 games against Man City.
  • Man City are unbeaten in 12 of their last 14 games.

H2H - Recent Draws

Arsenal have a 101-65 advantage against Man City, alongside 48 draws.

Arsenal in Excellent Form

Arsenal are in quadruple contention after losing just three games in all competitions this season. The Gunners have won four and drawn one of their 2025/26 EFL Cup matches

The North Londoners beat Chelsea 3-2 and 1-0 in the EFL Cup semi-final. Arsenal had 3.82 XG over the two legs and allowed -1 XG in each game.

Mikel Arteta’s side have drawn three and won eight since the Chelsea cup victory. The Gunners drew 1-1 at Bayer Leverkusen before hitting back with a 2-0 Premier League home win against Everton.

Arsenal then beat Leverkusen 2-0 in the Champions League last 16 second leg. Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice scored and the Londoners dominated with 21 shots and 1.7 XG.

Man City Hard to Beat in Domestic Games

Pep Guardiola’s Man City have won all five EFL Cup matches this season and conceded just two goals. City comfortably beat Newcastle 2-0 away and 3-1 at home in the semi-final.

Those victories came during the Citizens' current 11-match unbeaten run in domestic competitions. Guardiola’s side have drawn two of their last three league matches, 2-2 against Nottingham Forest and 1-1 at West Ham.

City were eliminated from the Champions League on Tuesday after a 2-1 home loss to Real Madrid. The Citizens had 21 shots, 1.95 XG and Erling Haaland’s first-half goal was just a consolation.

Defender Jurrien Timber and midfielder Martin Odegaard are doubtful for Sunday’s game. Mikel Arteta provided a recent update on Odegaard’s recovery from a knee injury and said, "So we're really pushing, he really wants to try to be available, but we'll have to wait and see in the next few days when he trains with the team how he feels.

“We know the game that we're going to be playing in a few days again, and the more players that we have the better."

Verdict

Arsenal have shown few signs of letting up in an incredible 2025/26 campaign. Man City are a strong domestic side and these heavyweights can draw in the EFL Cup final.
