Celtic, bolstered by their recent impressive victory over St. Mirren, are well-positioned for another high-scoring game at Parkhead this weekend against Falkirk. With a solid home record and a history of dominance over Falkirk, the Bhoys are favored to win. Despite recent struggles, Falkirk presents a spirited challenge. However, key players for Celtic, including James Forrest and Kelechi Iheanacho, are expected to make significant impacts. With both teams poised for action, this clash promises goals and excitement.

Celtic vs Falkirk Predictions

Celtic should take confidence from their impressive Scottish Cup win against St Mirren last week, but Falkirk could make life difficult at Parkhead.

I expect Celtic to claim victory in a potentially high-scoring Premiership tussle.

Celtic Solid at Parkhead

  • Celtic won 12 of their last 16 home matches (Premiership)
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 home matches
  • Celtic have seen an average of 2.87 goals per game scored in their last 16 home matches (Premiership)
  • Falkirk lost their last 6 matches against Celtic
  • Falkirk have seen over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches

Celtic Hold Dominant Advantage in H2H Against Falkirk

Celtic and Falkirk have met on just six occasions since 2012. Celtic won all six matches. Falkirk have not beaten Celtic since a 1-0 win at Parkhead in 2007. A young Kasper Schmeichel saved a penalty in that victory almost 20 years ago.

Celtic Blast Past St.Mirren

Celtic return to Premiership action after a thrilling 6-2 victory in their Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren last weekend. After sharing four goals in 90 minutes, the Hoops turned on the style in extra time, with a four-goal salvo securing a place in May's final.

Kelechi Iheanacho stepped off the bench to bag a brace, as four goals in a remarkable six-minute spell sealed a memorable victory for the Glasgow side.

Martin O'Neill's side had scored just six goals in five previous fixtures before rediscovering their shooting boots at Hampden Park.

While far from their best this season, Celtic maintain a strong record in home fixtures. The Hoops won 12 and lost only three of 16 home league games this season.

With five games to play in a fascinating three-horse title race, the Bhoys sit third in the Premiership, three points behind leaders Hearts.

Bairns Stumble in Scottish Cup Semi-Final

Falkirk return to Glasgow after a disappointing penalty shootout defeat against Dunfermline in last Saturday's Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

John McGlynn's men were left frustrated in Mount Florida, as their Championship opponents held firm to claim a spotkick victory after a goalless 120 minutes.

The Bairns have enjoyed a remarkable return to the Premiership after a 15-year absence. John McGlynn's side secured a top-six finish for the first time since 1995.

Falkirk have gone off the boil in recent weeks, though. The Bairns lost four of their last seven league fixtures, including a 6-3 home defeat against Premiership title-chasers Rangers.

Despite their recent blip, McGlynn's men sit just five points behind fifth-placed Hibernian.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Celtic (4-2-3-1) Viljami Sinisalo; Tony Ralston, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales, Kieran Tierney; Arne Engels, Callum McGregor; James Forrest, Benjamin Nygren, Daizen Maeda; Kelechi Iheanacho

Interim boss O'Neill is likely to hand recalls to James Forrest and Kelechi Iheanacho after their match-winning substitute appearances against St Mirren.

Julian Araujo, Kasper Schmeichel, Callum Osmand, Alistair Johnston, Adam Montgomery, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota remain long-term injury absentees.

O’Neill felt his side’s strength in depth proved decisive after their dramatic semi-final victory.

“James Forrest coming on, Iheanacho scoring, was a major turning point in the game. For us to score so quickly was a real blow to them and a major boost for us.

“We took the chances. St Mirren were forced to leave a few gaps, but it doesn't matter - we took the goals brilliantly, and it was a joy.

“There was a period in the second half where we surrendered the initiative. It was in the balance. I would take winning the game all day long, but we had to wait a while for it.”

Falkirk (4-2-3-1) Scott Bain; Keelan Adams, Coll Donaldson, Liam Henderson, Filip Lissah; Brad Spencer, Dylan Tait; Ben Broggio, Finn Yeats, Calvin Miller; Barney Stewart

Bairns boss McGlynn has a strong squad available for the trip to Parkhead. Louie Marsh is the only expected absentee for the visitors.

In-form forward Barney Stewart is expected to lead the Bairns' attack on Saturday. The 22-year-old has scored five goals in his last nine appearances.

Speaking to the media after last week's Scottish Cup defeat, Falkirk boss John McGlynn admitted his side now face a tough task in their bid to catch fifth-placed Hibernian in the Premiership.

“It would have been nice to have something to look forward to at the end (of the season),” McGlynn added. “Five points behind Hibs is not impossible, but it is a big ask.

“We have a big part to play professionally for the other teams who are fighting for the title.”

Verdict

Celtic have the momentum to claim another high-scoring home win this weekend. I have my stake on a home win with at least three goals expected at Parkhead.
