Rangers are expected to continue their impressive form as they face Motherwell in a Scottish Premiership matchup. Despite Motherwell's recent downturn, they are likely to present a challenge at Ibrox. Rangers have been on a scoring spree, netting 14 goals in their last three matches. Meanwhile, Motherwell's defense has faltered, conceding multiple goals recently. Predicted lineups indicate key absences for both teams, which could influence the outcome. Ultimately, Rangers are favored to win, expecting both teams to score in a high-scoring contest.

Rangers vs Motherwell Predictions

While Motherwell have gone off the boil in recent weeks, they are still likely to provide a stiff test at Ibrox. I expect the Gers to edge a high-scoring contest, with the visitors also likely to get on the scoresheet.

Rangers in Fine Form

  • Rangers won 8 of their last 9 home matches (Premiership)
  • Rangers have seen over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches
  • Rangers have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 8 matches against Motherwell
  • Motherwell have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 5 matches
  • Motherwell lost 4 of their last 5 matches

Rangers Dominant in Motherwell H2H

Rangers and Motherwell have met on 20 occasions since 2020. Rangers won 12 of those games while Motherwell secured two victories.

Recent encounters have been tighter, with the visitors unbeaten in four of five previous games against the Glasgow giants.

Rangers Dismantle Bairns

Rangers return to Premiership business two weeks after an impressive 6-3 comeback win against Falkirk. Having fallen two goals behind, the Gers produced a stunning recovery to score six times in a chaotic nine-goal thriller.

Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski bagged braces as Rangers moved back within a point of Hearts in the absorbing Scottish Premiership title race.

The in-form Gers again showed their attacking quality, particularly in the second period, with six goals from a final xG tally of 3.94. Danny Rohl's side registered 20 shots on the Bairns’ goal, with five second-half goals coming from an xG of 2.57 after the break.

Much-improved in the forward areas, Rangers have scored 14 goals in their last three Premiership matches.

At Ibrox, high-scoring outcomes have been fairly regular this season. An average of over three goals per game were scored in 17 home Premiership games since last August.

Motherwell Downturn Continues

Motherwell make the short trip to Ibrox looking to bounce back after a frustrating 3-1 defeat against Hearts two weeks ago. Late goals from Lawrence Shankland and Pierre Landry Kabore secured a priceless victory for the Premiership leaders.

Despite creating the better opportunities, the Steelmen were left to rue their profligacy in front of goal at Tynecastle. Jens Askou's side finished with an xG of 2.01 compared to Hearts’ 1.74.

The Lanarkshire side have enjoyed a brilliant Premiership campaign, but have struggled in the final stretch of the season. Motherwell lost four of their last five Premiership fixtures. They had lost just three of their first 28 games of the campaign.

Defensive solidity that proved key to their early-season success has faltered in the past month. The Steelmen have conceded 11 goals in their last five games, with exactly three goals shipped in each of their last three defeats.

Facing a tough run of fixtures in the remaining weeks of the campaign, Motherwell remain fourth in the division, now 15 points behind the Gers.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Rangers (4-2-3-1) Jack Butland; James Tavernier, Emmanuel Fernandez, Nasser Djiga, Jayden Meghoma; Nicolas Raskin, Tochi Chukwuani; Djeidi Gassama, Thelo Aasgaard, Mikey Moore; Youssef Chermiti

Rangers boss Rohl has a couple of expected absentees this weekend. Ryan Naderi is ruled out, while Tuur Rommens is also tipped to remain sidelined.

Speaking after the impressive win at Falkirk, Rohl told BBC Sportsound:

"I'm proud of the outcome. The start was very difficult, not what we want. We needed to adapt to the conditions.”

"The reaction from my group was crucial to score to make it 2-1 before half-time. Second half was just one direction. We played forward, created a lot of chances.”

"Three games in a row with 14 goals show how we want to play. It's a consequence of the last few months and weeks”

Motherwell (4-2-3-1) Calum Ward; Stephen O'Donnell, Paul McGinn, Stephen Welsh, Emmanuel Longelo; Lukas Fadinger, Elliot Watt; Elijah Just, Callum Slattery, Ibrahim Said; Tawanda Maswanhise

Head coach Askou has a few injury concerns for the trip to Ibrox. Regan Charles-Cook, Johnny Koutroumbis and Zach Robinson are unlikely to feature this weekend.

The Danish boss was left frustrated by refereeing decisions in his side’s defeat against Hearts two weeks ago.

“We keep getting strange calls and decisions against us,” he said. “I think it's a shame when it gets decided on a moment like that.

“I think the incident last week with Maswanhise would give a penalty far more often in a normal world than the incident today.” he said.

Verdict

Rangers have found their best form in recent weeks, and I expect the Premiership title-chasers to register another high-scoring win this weekend.

I have my stake on the Gers to win with BTTS also expected at Ibrox.
