Chelsea vs Bournemouth Preview

Chelsea have the Premier League's worst defence this season and Bournemouth see BTTS in most matches. Another high-scorer is likely between these leaky teams.

Key Stats - Goals Standout

  • Chelsea have seen over 3.5 goals in their last 3 home games.
  • Chelsea have seen BTTS in their last 3 home matches.
  • Bournemouth have seen BTTS in their last 3 away games.

H2H - Recent High-Scorers at the Bridge

Chelsea have a 15-5 advantage against Bournemouth, alongside five draws.

Chelsea Are Wide Open This Season

Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea have seen more goals than any other Premier League side this season. The Blues average a league-high of 4.4 goals per game after scoring 10 and conceding 12 in five matches.

Chelsea won their first three matches in all competitions and scored nine goals. That streak ended with a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

The London side responded with a 6-3 EFL Cup home win against Leeds. Chelsea couldn’t build on that victory and were held to a 2-2 league draw against Hull.

Alonso’s side continued their patchy run of form with a 3-0 away loss at Brentford. The Blues allowed 2.65 XG, faced six shots on target and conceded all three goals in the second half.

Bournemouth BTTS Specialists in the EPL

Bournemouth are a leaky side and haven’t kept a Premier League clean sheet in seven games. Marco Rose’s side have seen BTTS in four of their five league fixtures in 2026/27.

The south coast team were winless in their first three games. Bournemouth lost 2-1 at Man City and drew with Everton 1-1 and Newcastle 2-2.

The Cherries gained their first win of the season in the EFL Cup, beating Lincoln 4-0. A 2-2 league draw against Brentford and a 2-1 Europa League victory at Real Sociedad followed.

Rose’s outfit then lost 1-0 at home against Liverpool. Bournemouth allowed 1.65 XG and conceded the winner midway through the second period.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Chelsea (3-4-2-1): Emiliano Martinez; Wesley Fofana, Maxence Lacroix, Levi Colwill; Malo Gusto, Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Jorrel Hato; Pedro Neto, Morgan Rogers; Danny Welbeck

Attackers Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens and midfielder Cole Palmer are injury doubts.

Reece James is likely to return after a recent hamstring injury. Xabi Alonso said the defender “was just short of recovering” in time for the Brentford game.

Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Djorde Petrovic; Adam Smith, James Hill, Antonio Silva, Adrien Truffert; Tyler Adams, Lewis Cook; Rayan, Ryan Christie, Marcus Tavernier; Evanilson

Forward pair Eli Junior Kroupi and Justin Kluivert are injured and unavailable. Midfielder Amine Abdi and defenders Julian Araujo and Veljko Milosavljevic are also ruled out due to injury.

Alex Scott has been ruled out for up to eight weeks following an injury on international duty. Thomas Tuchel explained that the midfielder had a  “slight discomfort” during and after the Croatia game.

Verdict

Chelsea and Bournemouth concede a lot of goals in the Premier League. These sides are wide open at the back and the goals can flow again at Stamford Bridge.
