Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest Preview

Crystal Palace have struggled to keep the goals out at home in the Premier League. Nottingham Forest regularly see BTTS on the road and a high-scoring game is likely in south London.

Key Stats - Plenty of High-Scorers

  • Crystal Palace have seen over 4.5 goals in their last 2 EPL home games.
  • Crystal Palace have seen BTTS in 4 consecutive EPL home matches.
  • Nottingham Forest have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 9 away EPL games.

Nottingham Forest have a 30-16 advantage against Crystal Palace, alongside 25 draws.

Crystal Palace Score and Concede a Lot at Home

Crystal Palace have one of the Premier League’s worst defences. The Eagles have conceded 11 goals this season, including seven at Selhurst Park.

Palace lost their opening two league matches at home. Pierre Sage’s outfit lost 4-1 against Man City and 3-2 to Ipswich and faced 30 total shots in those games.

The south Londoners hit back and thrashed Lech Poznan 4-0 at home in the Europa League. Sage’s side then held Leeds to a goalless away draw.

The Eagles faced second-tier team Bristol City in a friendly during the international break. Palace lost 2-0 and conceded once in each half.

Nottingham Forest Get Amongst the Away Goals

Oliver Glanser’s Nottingham Forest have struggled for form early in the new campaign. The Midlands side are winless in six of their last seven matches and have kept just one clean sheet.

Forest were winless in four consecutive matches, including a 2-2 away draw at Liverpool. The Tricky Trees ended their winless streak and beat Aston Villa 2-1 away, having 2.28 XG.

Glasner’s side continued their patchy run of form after losing 1-0 against Coventry at home. Forest couldn’t score with 24 shots and conceded just after half time.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1): Dean Henderson; Chris Richards, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jaydee Canvot; Oscar Mingueza, Quinten Timber, Adam Wharton, Tyrick Mitchell; Daichi Kamada, Yeremy Pino; Jorgen Strand Larsen

Defender Chadi Riad is ruled out with a long-term knee problem and centre-back Axel Disasi is suspended. Wing-back Anan Khalaili is doubtful following a recent hamstring issue.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson and striker Jean Philippe Mateta could return from injury on Sunday. Pierre Sage addressed the pair’s recoveries recently and said:

"Henderson's situation is more certain than Mateta's situation. We will have to wait on both of them.”

Nottingham Forest (3-4-2-1): Matz Sels; Jair Cunha, Ousmane Diomande, Murillo; Daniel Munoz, James McAtee, Xaver Schlager, Neco Williams; Morgan Gibbs-White, Dan Ndoye; Liam Delap

Defensive pair Nikola Milenkovic and Nicolo Savona are in contention for the Palace match following recent injuries.

Milenkovic featured in a behind closed doors friendly in the international break. Oliver Glasner also shared that Savona was “on track” in his recovery from a knee injury.

Verdict

Crystal Palace are lacking defensive quality under Pierre Sage and the Eagles are open at the back. Nottingham Forest are also leaking a lot of Premier League goals and a high-scoring Premier League encounter is expected.
