Ahead of the Newcastle vs Everton clash in the Premier League, Newcastle faces a challenging period with no wins in four of their last six home games and recent poor performances against top teams. In contrast, Everton is unbeaten in their last five away matches, boasting the division's best defensive record on the road. Given Newcastle's unconvincing domestic form and Everton's road resilience, the match is predicted to end in a draw. Both teams face injury concerns, with key players missing from each squad.

Everton have a 77-72 advantage against Newcastle, alongside 38 draws.

Newcastle’s Domestic Form is Unconvincing

Eddie Howe's Newcastle are 11th in the Premier League and have struggled to break into European contention. The North East outfit have failed to win in five of their previous six league games.

The Toon lost three domestic matches in a row against Liverpool 4-1, Man City 3-1 and Brentford 3-2. They hit back with a 2-1 win at Tottenham before a 2-1 defeat at Man City.

Eddie Howe’s side replied by defeating Qarabag 3-2 at home in the Champions League. Sandro Tonali and Joelinton scored in the opening six minutes and Sven Botman added a third in the second period.

Everton Pick Up Points on the Road

David Moyes’ Everton are a good away team and are unbeaten in eight of their last nine on the road. The Toffees have the best away defence in the division, conceding just 12 goals in 13 games this season.

Everton are on a five-match unbeaten run away, including two draws against Burnley 0-0 and Brighton 1-1. The Merseysiders have kept three clean sheets and conceded just two goals during this streak.

Moyes’ side fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at home against Man United on Monday. The Toffees had 1.5 XG, four shots on target and conceded with 20 minutes remaining.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Newcastle (4-3-3): Nick Pope; Trippier, Malick Thiaw, Dan Burn, Lewis Hall; Joelinton, Sandro Tonali, Jacob Ramsey; Harvey Barnes, Nick Woltemade, Anthony Gordon

Midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Lewis Miley are sidelined due to injury. Defenders Emil Krafth, Fabian Schar and Tino Livramento are also injured.

Jacob Murphy was subbed off with a hamstring issue against Qarabag. Eddie Howe provided a post-match update on the attacker’s condition and said, 'We hope it’s nothing serious. He just felt his hamstring, an awareness, a tightness.

“He had a scan, [which] came back clear, so we’re hopeful it will be a quick improvement, and he’ll be back involved.”

Everton (4-2-3-1): Jordan Pickford; Jake O'Brien, James Tarkowski, Michael Keane, Vitali Mykolenko; James Garner, Idrissa Gueye; Iliman Ndiaye, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Harrison Armstrong; Thierno Barry

Forward Jack Grealish is out with a broken foot. Goalkeeper Mark Travers is also unavailable due to an injured finger.

Carlos Alcaraz has been ruled out for the next few games. David Moyes confirmed the midfielder’s injury and said, “Unfortunately, Charly Alcaraz picked up an injury in training yesterday, which has ruled him out.”

Verdict

Newcastle aren’t at their best and Everton are a difficult away side to compete with. These sides are well-matched and a close-fought Premier League draw has good value.
