Guimaraes Searching for Consistency


Vitoria de Guimaraes have been struggling for consistency under new manager Luis Pinto. They are yet to win back to back games in the Primeira Liga.

The Conquerors started the month with a tough 3-0 defeat against Benfica, their chances effectively ended when Fabio Blanco was sent off in the 56th minute.

Oumar Camara converted an added time penalty to secure a 1-0 victory at Tondela. Guimaraes are coming off a routine 4-0 win against fourth division side Mortagua in the Portuguese Cup.

AFS Relegation Candidates


AFS sit rock bottom in the Primeira Liga and are they only club without a win. Jose Mota was sacked in September and replaced by Joao Pedro Sousa. 

Sousa’s only win in seven games came at fifth division club Fornos de Algodres in the Portuguese Cup. They continued their run in the competition on Saturday, a penalty shootout victory over Academico Viseu following a 0-0 draw.

The Vila das Aves club have drawn their previous two games in the Liga, at home against Tondela and Gil Vicente. Their last road came over a month ago, a 2-0 defeat at Santa Clara where they ended with 0.20 xG.

Pedro Lima came off the bench against Gil Vicente and registered an assist, the Brazilian a chance to start in the playmaking role behind Tomane.

Verdict

AFS are destined for relegation in the Primeira Liga, the only team in the competition yet to register a win. The home crowd in Guimaraes will be expecting a victory and I expect Vitoria to send them home happy.
