Moreirense vs Famalicao Betting Tips - High Fliers set for a Stalemate in the Primeira Liga

Moreirense, known for their resilience at home, face Famalicao, a team unbeaten in away games this Primeira Liga season, in what promises to be a closely fought match. Despite recent setbacks, Moreirense's strong home performance and Famalicao's solid defence make a draw a likely outcome. Both teams have seen fluctuating form recently, with Moreirense struggling to score while Famalicao has shown defensive prowess. If Moreirense manage to secure a point, it will end Famalicao's away unbeaten streak. Fans can expect a competitive clash with potential for goals from both sides.

Famalicao haven’t lost on the road this season and Moreirense are notoriously tough to beat at home. These high flying clubs are separated by one point in the Primeira Liga, and I think it will stay that way after the final whistle.

Moreirense Strong at Home

Moreirense have lost four of their previous five matches, the run including a 1-0 defeat at third division side Fafe in the Portuguese Cup.

Vasco Botelho da Costa’s side remain strong at home, winning four straight games in Moreira de Conegos before a narrow 2-1 defeat to Porto.

Their last outing came before the international break, a 2-1 defeat at Braga. Maracas got a goal back late on but they had no excuses, ending with 0.82-2.23 xG at the Quarry.

Botelho da Costa lamented individual mistakes after the match, saying: “There are days when, for our goal to remain clean, we have to make zero mistakes. We made two mistakes, conceded two goals, also due to the quality of the opponent. What we have to take away from here is the game we played today, fantastic.”

Famalicao Flying High

Famalicao are unbeaten in 11 of 13 matches this season, largely on the back of a stingy defence that rarely leaks goals. Both defeats came at home against Top two clubs, beaten 2-1 by Sporting CP and 1-0 by Porto.

Hugo Oliveira’s side are still alive in the Portuguese Cup after registering a 2-1 win at Estoril on Saturday. It was a close clash, the northern club holding on after goals to Tom van de Looi and Pedro Bondo established a 2-0 lead.

Oliveira was happy with the victory and the way his side continue to progress, saying: “Estoril has good players, and we ended up more pinned back in our own area, but I must congratulate my players on how collectively they played today. It's another step in the development and consolidation of our game.”

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Moreirense (4-3-3) Andre Ferreira; Dinis Pinto, Marcelo, Maracas, Kiko Bondoso; Vasco Sousa, Mateja Stjepanovic, Alanzinho; Diogo Travassos, Guilherme Schettine, Landerson

Brazilian striker Yan Lincon is injured with Lawrence Ofori and Kiko Bondoso both doubtful. Vasco Sousa competes with Benny for a spot in midfield.

Maracas overcame an injury scare and is expected to be rejoined by Brazilian compatriot Marcelo in central defense, the captain available after serving a suspension in Braga.

Guilherme Schettine has scored seven goals in 10 Primeira Liga appearances this season.

Famalicao (4-2-3-1) Lazar Carevic; Rodrigo Pinheiro, Ibrahima Ba, Leonardo Realpe, Pedro Bondo; Mathias de Amorim, Tom van de Looi; Gil Dias, Gustavo Sa, Sorriso; Yassir Zabiri

Spanish winger Oscar Aranda is out until 2026 due to a cruciate ligament injury. Romeo Beney hasn’t featured since August.

Expect Oliveira to recall Rodrigo Pinheiro, Leonardo Realpe, Pedro Bondo; Mathias de Amorim and Sorriso. Yassir Zabiri could continue up front with Simon Elisor struggling in front of goal.

Verdict

Moreirense are the only team in the Primeira Liga yet to draw. I think this is the perfect time for that anomaly to be corrected, Famalicao to take a point to stay fifth on the table.
