Middlesbrough have a 29-23 advantage against Millwall, alongside 16 draws.

Middlesbrough in Shaky Form

Middlesbrough have struggled to keep chase at the top of the Championship following a downturn in form.

Boro are second in the table and nine points behind leaders Coventry. The Teesside outfit have failed to win in six of their last eight and are winless in four at home.

Kim Hellberg’s team have dropped points against teams sitting in 16th or below in their previous four home matches. Boro lost 1-0 against Charlton and drew 0-0 against Oxford, 1-1 with Leicester and Bristol City.

Middlesbrough followed the Bristol City stalemate with a goalless draw at Blackburn before the international break. Hellberg’s side had 1.56 XG, 12 shots and couldn’t net the winning goal.

Millwall Confident on the Road

Alex Neil’s Millwall are fourth in the Championship and trail Middlesbrough by just two points. The Lions can climb into the top two if they beat Boro and Ipswich lose or draw against Birmingham on Friday.

The South London side have the best recent away record in the Championship, sealing 13 points from five games. Millwall won four away games in a row, beating Wrexham 2-0, Sheffield Wednesday 2-1, Preston 2-0 and Hull 3-1.

Millwall then drew 1-1 at third-placed Ipswich last time out. The Lions conceded in the first half, Josh Coburn equalised and Mihailo Ivanovic hit the bar in the closing stages.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Middlesbrough (4-1-4-1): Solomon Brynn; Luke Ayling, Dael Fry, Adilson Malanda, Matt Targett; Aidan Morris, Callum Brittain, Alan Browne, Riley McGree, Leo Castledine; Tommy Conway

Defenders Darragh Lenihan and Alfie Jones and forward Sam Silvera are unavailable due to long-term injuries.

Morgan Whittaker and Hayden Hackney are injury doubts. Kim Hellberg was unsure about the duo’s fitness after the Blackburn game and said, “Both of them are chances, and I’m hoping for it, but I have, to be honest, no clue if it’s one week or two weeks more or they are ready to go. I don’t know.”

Millwall (4-2-3-1): Anthony Patterson; Dan McNamara, Tristan Crama, Jake Cooper, Zak Sturge; Luke Cundle, Billy Mitchell; Femi Azeez, Macaulay Langstaff, Camiel Neghli; Josh Coburn

Midfield duo Alfie Doughty and Casper De Norre are injury doubts for the Middlesbrough game.

Goalkeeper Lukas Jensen and midfielders Daniel Kelly and Massimo Luongo are ruled out due to injury.

Verdict

Middlesbrough have shown weaknesses in recent games, particularly at home. Millwall have momentum and can boost their promotion hopes with a Championship victory.
