Roma are set to face Cagliari, aiming to maintain a strong home record despite recent attacking absentees. With a history of success against Cagliari, a low-scoring win is anticipated. Roma have been solid in home matches, winning seven of eleven this season, while Cagliari, despite improved form, struggles to perform in Rome. Predicted lineups account for significant absentees on both sides. The recommendation for bettors is to back a Roma win with fewer than four goals.

Roma vs Cagliari Predictions
Roma have several attacking absentees, but will still be confident of maintaining a strong recent record against Cagliari. A low-scoring home win offers the most value on Monday.
Roma Solid in Rome
- Roma won 3 of their last 4 home matches (Serie A)
- Roma have seen under 3.5 goals in 14 of their last 16 matches
- Cagliari have seen under 3.5 goals in 8 of their last 10 away matches against Roma
- Cagliari lost 8 of their last 9 away matches against Roma
- Cagliari have seen under 3.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 away matches
Roma Dominate H2H Against Cagliari
Roma and Cagliari have met on 11 occasions since 2020. Roma won seven of those games, with two goals or more scored in five of those victories. Cagliari claimed just one win.
The Sardinians have not won in Rome since 2013.
Roma Slip-Up in Udine
Roma return to the Stadio Olimpico on Monday after a narrow 1-0 defeat at Udinese last week. In a match of few clear-cut opportunities - both sides registered an XG below 0.75 - Jurgen Ekkelenkamp's third goal of the season secured the points for La Zebrette.
I Giallorossi usually do their best work in Rome. Gian Piero Gasperini's side won seven of 11 home Serie A matches this season, with fewer than two goals per game on average. A miserly Roman defence conceded just six goals across those fixtures.
Still in the fight to secure Champions League qualification, I Giallorossi sit fifth in the division, but only two points behind fourth-placed Juventus.
Cagliari Maintain Improved Form
Cagliari make the trip to Italy's capital in high spirits after an impressive 4-0 win against Verona last weekend. Late goals from Ibrahim Sulemana and Riyad Idrissi added gloss to a well-deserved home win for Fabio Piscane's side.
After failing to win five of six games played between mid-December and mid-January, the Sardinians have picked up the pace. Cagliari won each of their last three games, including a surprise 1-0 win against Juventus.
A dismal record in Rome offers little encouragement, though. The Rossoblu failed to score in all but one of nine previous away matches against Roma. Cagliari slipped to a 1-0 defeat in their most recent encounter at the Olimpico.
Predicted Lineups and Team News
Roma (3-4-2-1) Mile Svilar; Devyne Rensch, Evan Ndicka, Jan Ziolkowski; Mehmet Zeki Celik, Bryan Cristante, Neil El Aynaoui, Wesley; Matias Soule, Lorenzo Pellegrini; Donyell Malen.
Roma boss Gasperini remains unable to call on several first-team players. Artem Dovbyk, Paulo Dybala, Stephan El Shaarawy, Manu Kone, Mario Hermoso, Robinio Vaz and Lorenzo Venturino are sidelined while Evan Ferguson remains doubtful.
Gasperini bemoaned Roma's lack of good fortune in the defeat against Udinese.
"We lacked precision in the final third, were unlucky by a few centimetres at the end and the goal we conceded showed luck was not on our side this evening.
"It was a very closed match, they too only had a couple of long-range attempts, otherwise it was difficult for both teams to build something.
Cagliari (3-5-2) Elia Caprile; Ze Pedro, Yerry Mina, Juan Rodriguez; Marco Palestra, Michel Ndary Adopo, Gianluca Gaetano, Luca Mazzitelli, Adam Obert; Sebastiano Esposito, Semih Kilicso.
Fabio Pisacane has three confirmed absences ahead of the trip to Rome. Michael Folorunsho, Andrea Belotti and Mattia Felici will not feature for the Sardinians.
Verdict
Despite several attacking injuries, Roma should have enough quality to edge their way to a narrow home win on Monday. I have the hosts to win with fewer than four goals scored.
