With a convincing advantage from previous matches, Thailand is expected to comfortably secure a spot in the ASEAN Championship final by winning their upcoming home game in Bangkok. Singapore, needing to overcome the deficit, will likely play an aggressive, attacking game—creating opportunities for the hosts to capitalize. The top recommendation is a Thailand victory with more than 2.5 goals scored in the match, reflecting their dominant form and Singapore's vulnerabilities on defense.

Thailand vs Singapore Predictions

Thailand host Singapore in the second leg of their ASEAN Championship semi-final at Rajamangala Stadium on Tuesday.

The War Elephants claimed a 3-1 victory in Singapore and should have enough quality to secure another comfortable, likely high-scoring win in Bangkok.

I have my stake on Thailand to win with over 2.5 match goals expected.

War Elephants Backed in Bangkok

  • Thailand won 10 of their last 12 matches
  • Thailand have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 11 matches
  • Thailand have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 5 matches against Singapore
  • Singapore lost their last 11 matches against Thailand
  • Singapore lost 3 of their last 7 matches
  • Singapore have seen over 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 12 matches

Thailand Dominate Head to Head Record

Thailand have dominated recent meetings with Singapore, winning each of their previous 11 encounters.

The War Elephants claimed a 3-1 victory in Saturday’s semi-final first leg at Jalan Besar Stadium.

Each of their last five meetings finished with at least four match goals, while both teams scored in all five contests.

Thailand Take Control of Semi-Final

Thailand return to Rajamangala Stadium with a commanding two-goal advantage after a well-deserved 3-1 first-leg victory in Singapore.

Teerasak Poeiphimai scored twice in the first half before Seksan Ratree added a third six minutes after the restart.

Anthony Hudson’s side maintained their perfect tournament record with a fifth successive win secured at Jalan Besar Stadium.

The War Elephants won all four Group B fixtures, scoring ten goals without conceding.

Thailand began their campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory against Laos before recording successive wins against Malaysia, the Philippines and Myanmar.

Seven-time ASEAN Championship winners, Thailand remain on course to reach their seventh final in eight editions.

Singapore Face Uphill Task

Singapore travel to Bangkok needing a two-goal victory to force extra time following their 3-1 first-leg defeat last weekend.

Gavin Lee’s side competed bravely at Jalan Besar Stadium but were unable to contain Thailand’s superior attacking quality.

Despite enjoying 72% possession, Singapore were outshot 13-11, with Thailand registering six efforts on target to their four.

Trailing 3-0 with six minutes remaining, Ilhan Fandi’s late goal gave the Lions a glimmer of hope ahead of Tuesday’s second leg.

The Thais secured their spot in the semi-finals after finishing second in Group A with eight points from four unbeaten fixtures. Singapore defeated Cambodia and Timor-Leste before pìcking up draws against Vietnam and Indonesia.

The four-time ASEAN champions also reached the semi-finals in 2024, losing 5-1 on aggregate against Vietnam.

Thailand vs Singapore Squads and Team News

Thailand Squad

Goalkeepers: Kampol Pathomakkakul, Korrakot Pipatnadda, Chatchai Budprom
Defenders: Chaiyaphon Otton, Nattapong Sayriya, Narubadin Weerawatnodom, Pansa Hemviboon, Pichitchai Sienkrathok, Manuel Bihr, Waris Choolthong, Wanchai Jarunongkran, Adisorn Promrak, Oussama Thiangkham
Midfielders: Kakana Khamyok, Chawanwit Saelao, Thossawat Limwannasathian, Pokklaw Anan, Picha Autra, Worachit Kanitsribampen, Sarach Yooyen, Seksan Ratree
Forwards: Jehhanafee Mamah, Teerasak Poeiphimai, Yotsakorn Burapha, Patrik Gustavsson

Thailand boss Anthony Hudson is expected to rotate his starting lineup for Tuesday’s semi-final second leg against Singapore.

Hudson made six changes for Saturday’s 3-1 victory and confirmed that he will continue managing his squad carefully at Rajamangala Stadium.

“There will be no complacency going into this game, and we have to approach this game like it’s 0-0,” said Hudson. “Start with intensity and with the absolute ambition to win the game.

“I feel very fortunate that we have a really good group of players that have worked so well since the first day of camp. They have given me a lot of confidence, so I think that is an advantage that we can make some changes.

“So we will see a few players come in and freshen up the group. And with the players coming in, I don't see a one per cent drop in performance because I trust the group.”

Singapore Squad

Goalkeepers: Izwan Mahbud, Syazwan Buhari, Ridhuan Barudin
Defenders: Ryhan Stewart, Amirul Adli, Lionel Tan, Irfan Fandi, Nur Adam Abdullah, Raoul Suhaimi, Akram Azman, Luth Harith
Midfielders: Joel Chew, Kyoga Nakamura, Song Ui-young, Shah Shahiran, Farhan Zulkifli, Glenn Kweh, Hariss Harun, Hami Syahin, Jacob Mahler, Harhys Stewart, Saifullah Akbar
Forwards: Nathan Mao, Ilhan Fandi, Shawal Anuar

Singapore boss Lee could adopt a more attacking approach, with his side needing at least two goals to keep the tie alive.

Shawal Anuar is expected to lead the Lions’ attack, while Ilhan Fandi and Glenn Kweh are among those pushing for starting places.

Lee insists his players must remain patient if they are to turn the tie around this week.

“I think for us as a team, we are very aware of the situation and the kind of scoreline and outcome that we need,” said Lee.

“But I think it would be very dangerous if we just focus on chasing the results because in football things don't go your way, and if things don't go our way, it just causes unnecessary stress.

“Ultimately, it's just us going back to focus on what we can control, and that's what we do on the pitch."

Verdict

Thailand already hold a commanding advantage and should secure their place in the ASEAN Championship final with another victory in Bangkok.

Singapore must adopt an attacking approach, which is likely to leave space for the hosts to exploit.

Thailand to win with over 2.5 match goals looks like the best bet on Tuesday.
