Anderlecht vs Hammarby Predictions & Tips - BTTS Backed in Europa League Qualifier

Anderlecht hosts Hammarby at Lotto Park in the Europa League second qualifying round after a 1-1 draw in Sweden. Both sides have strong scoring records, and both teams have often seen BTTS (both teams to score) in recent fixtures. Hammarby comes into the match unbeaten in six games and second in their domestic league. With both teams in good attacking form but struggle for clean sheets, BTTS is recommended as the best bet for this closely matched second-leg tie.

Anderlecht vs Hammarby Predictions

Anderlecht welcome Hammarby to Lotto Park for the second leg of their Europa League second qualifying-round tie on Thursday.

Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg, another closely fought contest looks likely in Belgium.

I have my stake on both teams to score at Lotto Park.

BTTS on the Cards

  • Anderlecht have seen BTTS in their last 9 matches (competitive fixtures)
  • Anderlecht  scored 1+ goals in 12 of their last 13 matches
  • Hammarby scored 1+ goals in 14 of their last 15 matches
  • Hammarby have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 8 matches

First H2H Contest Ends Level

Last week’s Europa League qualifier was the first competitive meeting between Hammarby and Anderlecht. Hammarby scored a late goal to secure a 1-1 draw in Sweden.

Anderlecht Denied Late Victory

Anderlecht return to Brussels after conceding a late equaliser in last week’s opening leg.

The Belgian giants made an excellent start in Stockholm, with Danylo Sikan opening the scoring after just six minutes.

Vitord Bruno’s side were unable to build on their early advantage, though. Nathan-Dylan Saliba saw red in the second period before Frank Junior Adjei rescued a draw for the Swedes in the 89th minute.

The Mauves have struggled to find much winning form since the back end of last season. Anderlecht failed to win nine of 11 games played since mid-April - all but one of those games finished with BTTS.

Unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 home European fixtures since 2022, Anderlecht have seen both teams score in four of their last six continental matches in Brussels.

Hammarby Remain Difficult to Beat

Hammarby make the trip to Belgium after extending their unbeaten run to six matches with a hard-fought draw at Brommapojkarna in the Allsvenskan on Sunday.

Victor Lind appeared to have secured an away victory with a 79th-minute opener before a stoppage-time leveller ensured back-to-back 1-1 draws for the Swedes.

Henrik Rydstrom’s side have now recorded four wins and two draws in their last six competitive fixtures since returning from their summer break.

Already 15 games into their domestic campaign, Hammarby sit second in the Allsvenskan after collecting eight victories and 27 points.

Strong in the forward areas, the Bajen scored an average of over two goals per game this season.

Competing in the Europa League qualifiers for the first time since 2020, the Swedes have never qualified for the group phase of a major European competition.

Anderlecht vs Hammarby Team News

Anderlecht: (4-4-2) Colin Coosemans; Ali Maamar, Giulian Biancone, Leo Petrot, Ludwig Augustinsson; Joshua Nga Kana, Enric Llansana, Lukas Ambros, Tristan Degreef; Danylo Sikan, Mihajlo Cvetkovic.

Head coach Bruno must make at least one change after Nathan-Dylan Saliba was dismissed for two bookable offences in Stockholm. The Canadian midfielder is suspended, with Lukas Ambros expected to come into the first XI.

Cedric Hatenboer, Ilay Camara, Killian Sardella and Lucas Hey remain unavailable through injury.

Summer signings Lukas Ambros, Leo Petrot, Joshua Nga Kana and Giulian Biancone all made their competitive debuts in Sweden and are expected to feature again this week.

Hammarby: (4-3-3) Warner Hahn; Hampus Skoglund, Victor Eriksson, Frederik Winther, Noah Persson; Markus Karlsson, Tesfaldet Tekie, Victor Lind; Montader Madjed, Nahir Besara, Paulos Abraham.

Head coach Rydstrom is expected to recall several players after rotating his lineup for Sunday’s league draw at Brommapojkarna.

Nahir Besara, Montader Madjed and Noah Persson were among the regular starters rested at the weekend and should return to the starting lineup in Brussels.

Frank Adjei is in contention for a starting position after scoring Hammarby’s late equaliser as a substitute in the first leg.

Sourou Kone remains unavailable with the knee injury that has kept him sidelined since April.

Verdict

Both teams can score in a likely competitive and hard-to-call second-leg contest in Belgium.

BTTS looks like the standout selection in Brussels on Thursday.
