Wrexham and Birmingham are set to face off in a Championship fixture where neither team will want to concede defeat due to their patchy recent performances. With both sides well matched, a closely fought game is expected, likely resulting in a draw. The recommendation highlights a general draw outcome, with a specific suggestion for a 1-1 scoreline. Fans can anticipate a tight contest with limited goal output and evenly balanced play. Another low-scoring stalemate looks probable.

Wrexham vs Birmingham Preview

Wrexham have started the new Championship season with consecutive draws. Birmingham are in similar league form and another stalemate is predicted at the Racecourse Ground.

Back-to-Back Wrexham Draws

  • Wrexham have drawn 1-1 in their last 2 games.
  • Wrexham have drawn their last 2 home matches against Birmingham.
  • Birmingham have drawn 3 consecutive Championship games.

H2H - Recent Draws at the Racecourse

Birmingham have a 7-2 advantage against Wrexham, alongside 4 draws.

Wrexham Are Championship Draw Specialists

Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham are on a run of three consecutive draws in the Championship. The Welsh side ended the 202/26 campaign with a 2-2 home stalemate with Middlesbrough.

The Red Dragons lost their opening match of the new season after a 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup. That defeat came before a 1-1 league draw at Cardiff.

Wrexham played out another 1-1 stalemate on Saturday against Watford at home. Danny Imray scored in 22nd minute to cancel out Watford’s early opener and Wrexham had 1.92 XG.

Birmingham Lacking an Early Season Threat

Birmingham are also on a three-match drawing streak in the Championship. The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth in the final game of last season.

Chris Davies’ team started 2026/27 with a 1-0 EFL Cup win at Swansea. Back-to-back Championship draws followed against Sheffield United at home 0-0 and Bristol City away 2-2.

The Midlands side were then thrashed 6-1 at home against Brentford in the EFL Cup second round. Birmingham conceded first and Demarai Gray equalised before the Blues shipped five goals.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Wrexham (3-4-2-1): Anthony Patterson; Zak Vyner, Dominic Hyam, Callum Doyle; Danny Imray, Benjamin Whiteman, Lewis O'Brien, George Thomason; Ollie Rathbone, Nathan Broadhead; Kieffer Moore

Defender Libby Cacace is unavailable due to a calf injury.

Josh Windass is expected to return to the squad against Birmingham. Phil Parkinson confirmed the attacker’s return recently and said, "We've obviously got players coming back in, Windass will definitely be fit for Friday and hopefully we'll have a few more in as well,"

Birmingham (4-2-3-1): James Beadle; Bright Osayi-Samuel, Phil Neumann, Christoph Klarer, Alexander Cochrane; Tomoki Iwata, Jhon Solis Romero; Demarai Gray, Seung-Ho Paik, Jay Stansfield; August Priske

Defensive pair Lee Buchanan and Taylor Gardner-Hickman are sidelined with injuries.

Midfielder Marc Leonard is also ruled out with an achilles tendon injury.

Verdict

Wrexham and Birmingham won’t want to lose here after some inconsistent recent form. These well-matched sides can cancel each other out and another Championship draw is likely.
