Match Preview

Germany have responded well after a shocking loss to Serbia, producing strong performances against Spain and Portugal. With confidence clearly rising, I will back them to beat Norway, who were far from convincing in a group played on home soil in Oslo.

Germany Growing Stronger With Each Game

Germany opened the tournament with a solid 30–27 victory over Austria, with Johannes Golla leading the way by scoring seven goals. That was followed by a disappointing 30–27 defeat to Serbia, a match in which they squandered a four-goal half-time lead.

Facing elimination in the final group game, Germany delivered their most complete performance so far against Spain. They controlled the tempo throughout and secured a 34–32 win, with Renars Uscins named man of the match after netting eight goals.

Their Main Round opener against Portugal was tighter early on, but Germany gradually lifted their offensive intensity in the second half and pulled away for a 32–30 victory, further strengthening their push toward the semifinals.

Norway Still Searching for Defensive Stability

Norway began the tournament in dominant fashion, crushing Ukraine 39–22 with Patrick Aderson and Alexander Blonz scoring seven goals each. Another convincing display followed against the Czech Republic, where they secured a 29–25 win after allowing just nine second-half goals.

Defensive weaknesses were exposed in the final group match against reigning champions France. The co-hosts struggled to deal with transition play and suffered a 38–34 defeat, carrying zero points into the Main Round.

On Thursday, Norway kept their semifinal hopes alive with a dramatic 35–34 win over Spain. They trailed for large stretches of the game, but August Pedersen stepped up in key moments and finished as top scorer with 11 goals.

Verdict

Norway showed character against Spain to stay in the race, but Germany look like a much tougher challenge at this stage. The Germans are flying after back-to-back wins over Spain and Portugal, and I will back them to collect another crucial set of points here.
