Finland vs Italy Betting Tips & Predictions – One-Sided Clash Expected at the Winter Olympics 2026
Italy's previous matches against Sweden and Slovakia have seen them heavily outshot, casting doubt on their offensive capabilities. As they prepare to face Finland, the likelihood of replicating similar performances is low. With Finland's strong tactics, a win seems probable, complemented by a prediction of the game having fewer than 6.5 goals. This suggests a focus on strategic play over sheer scoring, setting the stage for an exciting match where Finland is favored to come out on top.

Match Preview
Finland held Sweden to just one goal in the second round, and I can see them delivering another strong defensive performance against underdogs Italy when a positive result is needed. I am backing the Scandinavian side to win, with under 6.5 goals in the match.
Finland Back on Track
The math is clear for Finland heading into the final Group B round. A convincing win over Italy would most likely secure a quarterfinal spot as the highest-ranked second-placed team.
Their opening-round display was extremely disappointing, as they suffered a shock 4-1 loss to underdogs Slovakia, with Eeli Tolvanen scoring a consolation goal in the second period. Despite dominating the shot count 40-25, defensive lapses proved costly.
Finland responded in the second round with an impressive 4-1 win over fellow Scandinavians Sweden. They were outshot 35-24 in that game and failed to capitalize on 14 minutes of power-play time, but their efficiency made the difference.
Italy Fighting but Falling Short
Italy are still without a point after two rounds, but the overall impression they have left has been more positive than expected.
The Azzurri were always expected to lose their opener against Sweden, yet they were level at 2-2 midway through the second period before eventually going down 5-2.
They were also heavy underdogs in the second round against Slovakia, battling tooth and nail before narrowly losing 3-2, with Matthew Bradley and Dustin Gazley getting on the scoresheet.
Verdict
Italy have been heavily outshot in both matches so far against Sweden and Slovakia, and it is hard to see them creating much offensively here. Finland to win and under 6.5 goals is my main pick.
