Skellefteå vs Björklöven Tips and Predictions - Hosts Backed to Win by Three

Skellefteå are tipped to cover the -2.5 handicap against Björklöven after a recent 8–1 win and a strong run of form, including three straight victories and 15 goals scored. Björklöven have lost five consecutive games, managing only four goals and conceding 21. Rickard Hugg is also backed to score and to record at least two points, having five points in his last three games and four multi-point outings this season. Skellefteå’s impressive home record and Björklöven’s ongoing struggles at both ends of the ice support these selections.

Skellefteå vs Björklöven Tips and Predictions

I’m backing Skellefteå -2.5 goals in Saturday’s derby. They ran away with this fixture in Umeå last weekend, and Björklöven haven’t offered much since to suggest they’re ready to turn the tables. I’m taking the hosts to win by at least three.

Skellefteå have won their last three games, scoring 15 goals and conceding just three. Björklöven have lost five straight, with only four goals to show for those outings. After watching Skellefteå win the previous meeting 8–1, I’m happy to ask a little more of the home side on the handicap.

Rickard Hugg has been right in the middle of that good run, collecting five points across his last three appearances. He has scored in his last two games, and I’m backing him to find the net again against a defence that has conceded 21 goals across its last five.

I’m also taking Hugg to record 2+ points as a separate selection. He has 13 points in 13 appearances, including four multi-point games, and came away with three points from last weekend’s derby. With Skellefteå backed for another comfortable win, I’m taking Hugg to play a leading role with more than one scoring contribution.

  • Skellefteå have won six of their seven home games.
  • Skellefteå have scored 15 goals across their last three matches, winning all three.
  • Skellefteå beat Björklöven 8–1 last weekend.
  • Björklöven have lost five consecutive games, scoring four goals and conceding 21.
  • Rickard Hugg has scored in his last two appearances.
  • Hugg has recorded four multi-point games this season.

Skellefteå Form

Skellefteå followed the derby win with a 3–1 home victory over Linköping on Thursday. That made it three straight wins and took them into second place. They’ve scored 19 goals across their last five games while conceding seven, so there’s plenty going right beyond that big afternoon in Umeå.

Oscar Lindberg leads their scoring with 17 points, while Hugg and Pär Lindholm have 13 apiece. Arvid Lundberg has also kept contributing with a point in four straight appearances.

With six wins from seven at home, Skellefteå have given their supporters plenty to enjoy.

Björklöven Form

Björklöven’s difficult run continued with a 4–0 defeat at Luleå on Thursday. Coming straight after the heavy derby loss, that was another evening without much to cheer. They’ve now been shut out in three of their last five games, leaving the forwards with plenty to put right.

There have been problems at both ends, with 41 goals conceded in 13 matches. Robin Kovacs remains their leading goalscorer with five, but he has one point across his last five appearances.

Björklöven need more from their attack, because spending another afternoon chasing Skellefteå could make this a long one.

Verdict

Skellefteå -2.5 is my main pick, with Rickard Hugg to score and Hugg to record 2+ points as separate player selections. My score prediction is a 5–1 home win.
