Sweden’s performances and results at the Ice Hockey World Championship 2026 have been extremely disappointing, collecting just nine points from six games and now need victory here in regular time to secure quarterfinals.

Their first defeat in the tournament came against the Czech Republic 4-3, which was not considered a major upset, but the recent 3-2 loss against underdog Norway raised serious concerns.

The Swedes recorded victories against Denmark 6-2, Slovenia 6-0 and Italy 3-0. Lucas Raymond has been their standout performer so far with five goals and five assists.

Slovakia also need more points in the remaining round to confirm their place in the World Championship 2026 quarterfinals, currently sitting in 3rd place in Group B with 11 points.

They opened the tournament with a narrow 2-1 victory against Norway, then comfortably defeated Italy 4-1, while the follow-up clash against Slovenia featured plenty of drama and comebacks before Slovakia eventually won 5-4 on penalties.

Slovakia extended their winning streak with a commanding 5-1 victory over Denmark where Oliver Okuliar recorded one goal and two assists, but then suffered back-to-back defeats against the Czech Republic 3-2 and Canada 5-1.
