Washington Commanders 1-3-1 After Embarrassing Tie

Washington head to California on the back on an embarrassing finish to the game against New York that left them still seeking a second win.

The Commanders opened the season with back-to-back road games against division opponents, and came up short in both of them.

They were beaten 24-22 in Philadelphia, before heading to Dallas for a 37-20 defeat at the hands of the Cowboys.

Washington finally got off the mark with a 33-31 upset of Seattle at home, but quickly returned to losing ways as they fell 30-13 to Indianapolis.

The Commanders appeared poised to rebound from that loss when they marched into field goal range in overtime against the Giants last Sunday, but they made a complete mess of their clock management to allow time to expire with the teams locked at 20-20.

San Francisco 49ers Boast Perfect 5-0 Record

San Francisco enter this matchup having maintained their perfect record with another big division win last weekend.

The 49ers kicked off their campaign in Australia, where they beat NFC West rivals, and Super Bowl favourites, the Los Angeles Rams, 27-7.

They backed that up in their home opener as they beat Miami 35-13, and they then notched another division win a week later as they downed Arizona 36-30.

San Francisco made it four-in-a-row with a 24-14 victory over Denver, setting themselves up for a big trip to face defending champions Seattle last weekend.

The 49ers ran out winners in that big NFC West clash too, as they edged the Seahawks 32-29.

Washington’s overtime screw-up will go down in history as one of the biggest mistakes in NFL history.
