Leicester Tigers lost their opener at home to Sarries and although they bounced back against Newcastle last weekend, it wasn't convincing. We are leaning on Gloucester's form to continue on Friday night.

Key Stats - Three Wins on the Bounce for Gloucester

  • Gloucester have won 3 consecutive matches (PREM).
  • Gloucester have scored 93 points in 2 games this season (PREM).
  • Leicester Tigers have lost 4 of their last 5 fixtures (PREM).

Tigers Dominant

Leicester lead 27-11 in 39 matches against Gloucester with one draw.

Leicester Lost Opener at Home

Leicester Tigers scored two converted tries and a penalty in the first half against Newcastle last weekend to lead 17-5 at the break.

The Tigers could only muster a converted try in the second half but held onto their advantage to emerge victorious against Newcastle, winning 24-19 away from home.

Before that result, Leicester fell short in their PREM season opener against Saracens, losing 40-28 at home.

The team based at Mattioli Woods Welford Road is fifth in the Premiership Rugby table with six points from two matches.

The Leicester Tigers have not had the best start to their campaign, and now face a tricky test against Gloucester, as their opponents have been playing well this season, scoring plenty of points.

Gloucester have Won their last Three

Gloucester scored four tries and two conversions in the first half against Harlequins last weekend to lead 24-0 at half-time.

The Cherry and Whites continued to score freely in the second half, adding four tries and two conversions to their tally to thrash Harlequins 48-0 at home.

At the beginning of their new PREM campaign, Gloucester secured a solid 45-24 away victory against the Exeter Chiefs.

The Cherry and Whites are first in the Premiership Rugby standings with ten points from two matches.

Gloucester have hit the ground running this season and will fancy their chances against a Leicester side that has struggled to win recently, losing four of their last five fixtures.

Leicester vs Gloucester Team News

Leicester Tigers

Tighthead Will Hurd has stated what he expects from their upcoming clash with Gloucester: "We know there's going to be an emphasis on collisions and contacts. They've got an influx of new signings which has been good for them, but hopefully we can put them to the sword on Friday."

Hooker Finn Theobald-Thomas has been forced to hang up his boots permanently on medical grounds.

Gloucester

George Barton, Ben Loader, Jac Morgan, Will Trenholm, Charlie Atkinson, Seb Atkinson, Caolan Englefield, and Will Joseph each scored a try against Harlequins last weekend.

George Barton slotted four conversions in the match.

Verdict

Gloucester have momentum coming into their clash with Leicester Tigers and are tipped to cover the +7.5 handicap.
