The Premiership Rugby final sees Northampton Saints, in stellar form with 15 wins from 19, take on Exeter Chiefs. The Saints have a dominant home record and recently triumphed against Exeter. Although Exeter pulled off an impressive comeback against Bath, their away consistency is in question. Team news sees key players like George Furbank for Saints and possibly Immanuel Feyi-Waboso for Exeter featuring. The prediction leans on Northampton’s strong home advantage and consistent season, tipping them to cover the -6.5 handicap and clinch the title.

Exeter upset the odds against Bath last weekend but will have to repeat that feat a week later again. However, the Saints have been playing some superb rugby, I am certainly leaning on them to get the result.

Key Stats - Saints have Won 15 of their last 19

  • Northampton have won 15 out of 19 games this season (PREM).
  • Northampton have won 4 of their last 6 matches against Exeter (PREM).
  • Exeter have won 12 out of 19 fixtures this season (PREM).
  • Exeter lost to Northampton Saints by 7 points in their last match (PREM).

Head to Head

The Chiefs lead 20-17 in 38 matches with one draw. However, this season, they drew 33-all at Exeter before Northampton won 35-28 at home in the return fixture.

Northampton Saints Superb at Home

The Northampton Saints hosted rivals Leicester Tigers in the Premiership Rugby semi-finals last weekend, winning 45-31 after leading 26-19 at half-time.

Before that victory, the Saints had played their best rugby at home in the league this season. They drew 33-33 with Exeter before beating Leicester Tigers 32-26, Saracens 43-31, Sale Sharks 47-21, Harlequins 66-21, Newcastle 28-27, Bath 41-38, Bristol 94-33, and Gloucester 36-32.

The Northampton Saints have shown this season that they are the team to beat, with 15 victories from 19 matches, and they have recorded four wins in their previous six clashes with Exeter, giving them the advantage to win their third Premiership Rugby title this weekend.

Exeter Chiefs Need Consistency on the Road

Exeter mounted a comeback in their Premiership Rugby semi-final match against Bath last weekend, winning 27-26 after scoring 17 unanswered points in the second half.

Before that excellent performance, the Chiefs had mixed results away from home in the league during their campaign. They drew 33-33 with Northampton Saints, lost 18-14 to Bristol, beat Sale Sharks 27-26, defeated Saracens 30-24, lost to Bath 33-26, defeated Newcastle 38-14, and lost 34-31 to Gloucester and 41-24 to Harlequins before beating Leicester Tigers 36-25.

Exeter Chiefs will have the belief they can win the Premiership Rugby title this weekend after their latest victory; however, they will find the going tough against the Northampton Saints, as their opponents have suffered only three defeats all season.

Northampton vs Exeter Team News

Northampton Saints

Captain George Furbank has stated that his team will have a particular mindset for the final against Exeter: "We're looking to just go out and be in a mindset of attacking the game.

"That's what we're looking to build throughout this week. Ultimately you chase the performance and often the outcome follows - that is definitely what we are going to be going after."

The England scrum-half Alex Mitchell could be available for the Premiership Rugby final.

Exeter

Winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso could return from a facial injury and feature in the final against the Saints.

The Northampton Saints come into the Premiership Rugby final against Exeter in better shape and are tipped to cover the -6.5 handicap.
