Germany's playoff strategy of rapid attacks has yielded high-scoring games so far. Now, they’re matched against the tournament’s most efficient team, setting the stage for another fast-paced, high-point contest. The key recommendation is to expect another game exceeding 145.5 total points, making the 'over' bet an attractive pick for fans and bettors. Momentum and play styles point to a thrilling and offense-driven match.

Match Preview

These two sides clashed in the global qualifiers in March, where France claimed a convincing victory. Germany have the momentum on their side right now after eliminating favored Belgium, so we are most likely in for a thrilling contest.

France Still Unbeaten on Their Way to the Semifinals

France's performances have been spectacular so far at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2026, reaching the semifinals without losing a single match.

They were very convincing in the group stages, beating Hungary 99-53, South Korea 95-69 and Nigeria 111-56 to secure first position.

Many were expecting a close match against China in the quarterfinals, but Les Bleus cruised to another convincing 90-61 victory, winning mostly thanks to great rebounding (44-26). Marine Johannes was named player of the match with 15 points, seven assists and three rebounds.

Germany Riding High After Belgium Upset

After an initial disappointing 83-53 defeat against Spain, Germany stepped up their game and claimed back-to-back victories to secure a spot in the World Cup 2026 Round of 16.

They earned convincing victories against Japan 74-58, having a furious 28-11 start here, and Mali 83-58, where Frieda Buhner was the standout performer with 21 points.

The tournament hosts delivered arguably their best performance in the tournament so far, crushing South Korea 94-56 in the Round of 16 and dominating the glass with 46-30 rebounds. Marie Gulich landed 19 points on 7/9 FG shooting.

Germany were tagged underdogs against Belgium in the quarterfinals but shined once again, winning comfortably 93-74, with both Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally recording double-doubles.

Verdict

Germany were trying to end their attacks as soon as possible in the playoffs so far, which resulted in two high-scoring affairs. Now, they are facing the most efficient team in the tournament, so I expect a similar outcome, with over 145.5 points being the best pick.
