Los Angeles Sparks are enjoying a much stronger start to 2026 compared to the previous WNBA campaign and currently sit inside the playoff positions with a 7-6 record.
They are riding a three-game winning streak which started in early June with an 89-72 home victory against Portland Fire, followed by an upset road win over Seattle Storm 88-83 where Nneka Ogwumike led the way with 24 points and nine rebounds.
The Sparks made it three straight wins last weekend with a dramatic 111-102 overtime victory against Phoenix Mercury, largely thanks to excellent three-point shooting (15/34). Kelsey Plum delivered one of the performances of the season, finishing with 43 points.
Golden State Valkyries Searching for Consistency
Golden State Valkyries are looking much improved in 2026 compared to their inaugural WNBA season and currently occupy 4th place in the Western Conference with eight wins and five defeats.
Recent form has been mixed though. After suffering back-to-back defeats against Minnesota Lynx 87-84 and Las Vegas Aces 84-79 in early June, they responded with an 87-81 home victory against Phoenix Mercury.
They extended that momentum last weekend with a 76-72 road win over Seattle Storm despite shooting just 36% from the field. Janelle Salaun hit several key baskets late and finished as top scorer with 22 points and seven rebounds.
