Pierce O’Leary (19-0, 11 KOs) defends his IBO super-lightweight world title against Mark Chamberlain (17-1-1, 12 KOs) at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, August 1.

These two men were originally scheduled to face in March of this year, but Chamberlain was forced to withdraw due to a chest infection and Maxi Hughes stepped in to fill the void.
Despite the change in opponent the IBO crown was still up for grabs, and former European champion O’Leary was able to complete his rise to the summit as he stopped Hughes inside five rounds to delight his home crowd.
The 26-year-old will now make his first defence of the crown in the same venue where he won it – the 3Arena in Dublin – and he will do it against the man he should have faced earlier this year.
Chamberlain is a former European lightweight champion, and despite landing this shot at a world title, he has seen his career stall over the past couple of years with just one win coming in his last three fights.
He suffered his first ever loss in September 2024 when he was out-pointed by Josh Padley, and despite rebounding with a decision win over Miguel Angel, he was unable to build on that success.
Chamberlain went to a majority draw with Jack Rafferty last August – when he challenged for the British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles – so can he rebound and become a world champion for the first time, or will O’Leary get the job done and move on to bigger and better things?
