England have never lost to Ireland in a T20 World Cup match and with Ireland going down to Scotland by 40 runs in their opener the signs are that England should be set for a second big win on the bounce.

Key Stats - Wyatt-Hodge Scored a Century in her last Match

  • England Women’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge scored 105* off 62 balls against Sri Lanka.
  • England Women’s Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 47, 57 & 46* in her last 4 innings.
  • England Women’s Freya Kemp took 4/22 against Sri Lanka.
  • Ireland Women’s Orla Prendergast has scored 33, 71* & 33 in her last 4 knocks.

Ireland Upset in Last Encounter

England have dominated this fixture but Ireland caused a shock result in their 2024 encounter.

England Women Destroyed Sri Lanka

England piled on 219/1 off their 20 overs against Sri Lanka on the way to an 87-run win, bowling their opponents out for just 132.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s 105* against Sri Lanka came on the back of scores of 124, 96, 38, 119 and 29 in her last 10 matches. Nat Sciver-Brunt has scored 47, 57 and 46* in her last five matches.

Charlie Dean (2/18, econ 6.00) knocked over two of Sri Lanka’s top five and Sophie Ecclestone (2/27) knocked over their top scorer, but the hero of the innings was Freya Kemp who picked up 4/22 at just 5.50 to the over.

Ireland Looking for Another Upset

Ireland finished second above Pakistan in the Tri-Nation Women's T20I Series they hosted in May and June, beating Pakistan and the West Indies in their last two T20Is ahead of the World Cup.

They lost their opener against Scotland by 40 runs, conceding 161/5 and being bowled out for 121. Ava Canning (3/27) starred with the ball, with Aimee Maguire and Arlene Kelly each picking up a wicket.

Opener Amy Hunter (39 off 36 balls) did her best to get her side off to a good start and was backed up by Orla Prendergast (23 off 23 balls) before being reduced to 70/6, which effectively ended their chances in the match.

England vs Ireland Predicted Lineups

England have a powerful squad that is in good form, while Ireland have just a couple of players in form and will need the rest of their side to contribute if they hope to have any chance of giving England a challenge.

Ireland Women (possible XI): Alana Dalzell, Amy Hunter, Gaby Lewis (c), Orla Prendergast, Rebecca Stokell, Leah Paul, Alice Tector, Arlene Kelly, Ava Canning, Cara Murray, Aimee Maguire.
