Pakistan have started the tri-series strongly, securing wins over Sri Lanka and England, and are considered likely to cause another upset. Key performers include Hasan Nawaz and Arafat Minhas for Pakistan, while Harry Brook and Tom Banton stood out for England despite their side's inconsistency. England's bowlers have struggled, and team changes are expected. The article concludes that Pakistan represent the value win option, with Babar Azam tipped as their top batter and Harry Brook as England’s top batter.

  • Pakistan are backed to beat England again after strong opening wins in the tri-series.
  • England’s batting is inconsistent and their bowlers have struggled, conceding high scores.
  • Babar Azam is tipped as Pakistan’s top batter, with Harry Brook leading England’s lineup.

Pakistan beat England earlier in the tournament and are backed to cause another upset. The England bowlers just haven't hit their straps while the batsman are inconsistent.

Key Stats - Nawaz Run Scoring Machine

  • Pakistan's Arafat Minhas scored 59 & took 6/40 in the 2nd ODI vs England.
  • Pakistan's Hasan Nawaz top-scored for Pakistan with 79 from 74 balls vs England.
  • England's Tom Banton has scored 73, 126, 57 & 50 in his last 4 knocks.
  • England's Harry Brook smashed 202 from 116 balls in the defeat to Sri Lanka.
  • England's Joe Root made 69 & Will Jacks 66 not out as England posted 429/4.

Head-to-Head

Pakistan beat England earlier in this tournament, however, England were victorious in the four ODIs prior to that.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan have won both of their opening two matches in the tri-series after wins over Sri Lanka and England. Salman Agha's century drove the opening victory while Hasan Nawaz, Minhas and Faheem Ashraf rescued the innings against England.

On the bowling front, Pakistan are looking by far the strongest side with the other two units conceding 400+ runs in their last match.

England Form

England have lost both of their opening matches in the tri-series but their batting exploded against Sri Lanka as they cruised past the 400-run mark. Brook's 202, Root's 69, Banton's 50 and Jacks' unbeaten 66 powered England to an imposing score of 429/4, only for the bowling unit to concede the second-highest successful chase in ODI history.

In their previous match England’s inconsistency was highlighted by their collapse for 215 against Pakistan. England must decide whether to strengthen the attack, with Adil Rashid a likely consideration after sitting out the Sri Lanka match.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Pakistan have used an unchanged XI through their first two wins and have little reason for major changes. England may revisit their bowling combination after conceding 430 to Sri Lanka. Adil Rashid was part of the XI against Pakistan and could return after being rested in the latest game. Jos Buttler is unavailable for the tour and star bowler Jofra Archer is being rested.

Pakistan (possible XI): Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Saad Baig (wk), Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Nawaz, Arafat Minhas, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi (c), Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf.

England (possible XI): Tom Banton, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook (c), Jordan Cox (wk), Will Jacks, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Gus Atkinson, Adil Rashid, Josh Tongue.

Verdict

Pakistan are the value match-winner selection with Babar Azam their best best as their top batter. Harry Brook’s double ton makes him worth backing while Arafat Minas’ 6-for against England makes him worth backing with the ball.
