G2 Esports Are Ramping Up
G2 Esports qualified for VALORANT Champions 2026 playoffs as the second-seeded team from Group C. There, they defeated TYLOO (2-0) and Team Liquid (2-0), but could not make it past Paper Rex and lost 1-2.
The latter match was a highly competitive one. G2 Esports took the series lead with 13-9 on Split, but lost on Haven (11-13) and Lotus (9-13). Regardless of the loss, G2 Esports proved they can handle more high-tempo teams, which should come in handy on Thursday, when they take on their regional rivals, 100 Thieves.
Map pool-wise, G2 Esports will likely remove Haven, which should put them in a solid position. They are a better team on Abyss and Sunset, and they can match 100 Thieves on Split.

100 Thieves won Group A with wins against T1 (2-0) and FUT Esports (2-0), showing no real signs of struggle.
This comes as no surprise, as 100T entered VALORANT Champions as the team to beat, having previously won VCT Americas Stage 2 and the Esports World Cup, and so far, they’ve yet to show any signs of slowing down.
100 Thieves also have a fairly deep map pool as they do well on most maps but Lotus, Summit and Sunset. They are excellent on Ascent and Split, and tend to carry their weight on Abyss.
Looking at the individual performances, things get even more exciting as Cryocells, bang, Timotino, and Asuna have all been posting incredible numbers, and rank as first, fourth, fifth, and sixth-highest rated players of the tournament. Cryocells leads the way at 1.27, with bang at 1.22, Timotino at 1.21, and Asuna at 1.19.

100 Thieves have been in excellent shape over the last couple of months, and they have yet to show any signs of slowing down. They excel in their aggressive style of play and are more than capable of handling most teams via their firepower.
G2 Esports have struggled against this style in Stage 2, but based on their performance against Paper Rex, G2 might’ve found a solution. G2 also have a fairly deep map pool and tend to do well on the same maps as 100T.
100 Thieves are still a better team overall, and should win. But G2 can sneak a map and make it interesting.
