Gentle Mates enter their final match of the stage with a 2-2 record, which is enough for them to finish Group Alpha in the top four. They’ve done relatively well, beating PCIFIC Esports and Natus Vincere, but were less successful against FUT Esports and Team Vitality, who bested Gentle Mates 2-1 on Wednesday.
The latter game started with Gentle Mates picking up Haven (16-14), before they got outmuscled on Split (7-13) and Ascent (9-13). Considering it was Vitality, Gentle Mates deserve some slack, but in the greater picture, it is also fair to say that M8 haven’t shown up when faced with stronger teams.
While there are concerns with how high Gentle Mates can fly, this is a strong team, and as long as marteen continues to show good form, Gentle Mates have a chance of beating anyone.
