GIANTX With a Mountain to Climb
GIANTX haven’t had the best stage so far, going 1-2 over the first two weeks of play, to which they added a 0-2 loss to Team Liquid on Wednesday.
Now, sitting at 1-3, GIANTX need to defeat Team Heretics to qualify for the playoffs, but that might be easier said than done.
GIANTX’s sole victory of the stage came against the struggling Eternal Fire, and they’ve not won a single map across the other three fixtures, with 0-2 losses against Fnatic, Karmine Corp, and Team Liquid.
Their last outing against Liquid ended in 6-13 on Breeze and 7-13 on Split, which is not too inspiring. GIANTX were just as unsuccessful against Karmine Corp, losing with 8-13 on Haven and 4-13 on Ascent.
Results like that prove that GIANTX don’t do well against stronger teams, but luckily Team Heretics haven’t been that great either.

Team Heretics are 1-2 ahead of their clash with GIANTX, which puts them in an unenviable position, as a loss will more or less guarantee a bottom-two finish in Group Omega, unless Heretics cook up a big upset against Fnatic in the final game of the stage.
A 1-2 record is disappointing in itself, but the eye test also proves that Heretics have not been playing well. They have so far beaten only Eternal Fire (0-2), yet fell against Team Liquid (0-2), and looked toothless against Karmine Corp last Sunday.
It was an atrocious performance from Heretics, who lost 4-13 on Sunset and 2-13 on Lotus. If they show no improvement this week, an upset loss to GIANTX is not unlikely.
