Los Angeles Thieves vs Cloud9 New York Tips – Cloud9 Chase Miracle in CDL Major 4 Qualifiers
The LA Thieves face Cloud9 NY on June 19 in what’s widely expected to be a one-sided match during the CDL 2026 Stage 4 Major Qualifiers. The Thieves are on an impressive 11-game winning streak, and have already defeated C9NY twice this season. While LA have shown some recent weaknesses by dropping maps, Cloud9 have only managed three wins all season and continue to struggle, despite a narrow loss last week. A map win for Cloud9 is possible, but an overall LA Thieves victory is strongly anticipated.

Los Angeles Thieves Are on a Roll
Los Angeles Thieves enter the final week of CDL Major 4 qualifiers with a 3-0 record, having already beaten FaZe Vegas (3-2), Boston Breach (3-2), and G2 Minnesota (3-2).
With those wins, the LA Thieves have extended their streak to 11 games as they’ve not dropped a match since the first round of CDL Major 3. That said, LA thieves have started to show some cracks recently, as they’ve dropped two maps against Boston Breach and G2 Minnesota.
Some of it has to do with the fact that the LA Thieves have already secured a spot in Major 4 and do not have much more to fight for. However, the eye test shows that they have slowed down.

Cloud9 New York Have Yet to Find Traction
Cloud9 New York are the same team they’ve been for the last few months. Despite the roster overhaul early into the season, they’ve yet to find any traction, and even that is an understatement as C9NY have won just three games since the start of CDL 2026.
This stage, C9NY are 0-3, with defeats to G2 Minnesota, Boston Breach, and Toronto KOI. On a more positive note, they showed some signs of life on Sunday, when Cloud9 forced Toronto KOI to map five and came very close to taking the win.
That series highlighted how weak Cloud9 New York are on Hardpoint, as they’ve lost both with 223-250 and 158-250. However, they played better on Search & Destroy (6-5), Overload (3-2), and the second Search & Destroy (5-6).
It was Cloud9’s best performance in months, but against a weakened team who’ve recently lost their best player. So that close game does not hold as much weight.

Verdict
Cloud9 New York are fresh off their best performance of the last two months, and the Los Angeles Thieves have shown cracks recently, dropping two maps against G2 Minnesota and Boston Breach.
This does not change the fact that the LA Thieves are a vastly superior team to Cloud9 New York, who are still the main wooden spoon candidates. But there is no hiding the fact that the Thieves have slowed down.
Considering they’ve already secured a spot in the next Major, there’s a world where Los Angeles Thieves will want to play some of their weaker maps to practice, which can give Cloud9 a chance to do some damage.
An upset is highly unlikely, but Cloud9 to win a map at 3.00 is worth a look.
