The upcoming Serie A showdown between Bologna and AC Milan promises to be action-packed, given the recent performances of both teams. Bologna has returned to winning ways and is looking to capitalize on their strong form, whereas AC Milan aims to extend their unbeaten run. The historical trend suggests a strong possibility for both teams to score, making the BTTS market an attractive option. With AC Milan's recent draw against Roma and Bologna's home challenges, a shared point is on the cards.

Bologna vs AC Milan Predictions

Bologna should raise their game against an AC Milan side that has developed a habit of low-score draws in recent weeks. BTTS is my first pick, while I also have a stake on the points being shared.

BTTS Has Every Chance

  • Bologna have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 7 matches (Serie A)
  • Bologna have drawn 3 of their last 7 matches against AC Milan (Serie A)
  • AC Milan have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 5 matches
  • AC Milan have drawn 4 of their last 8 matches (Serie A)

Milan in Control in Recent Bologna H2H

Bologna and AC Milan have met on 13 occasions since 2020. AC Milan claimed eight victories, while Bologna secured just two wins.

Nine of 13 previous Serie A encounters between these sides finished with BTTS, including each of their last three league contests.

Bologna Return to Winning Ways

Bologna return to Serie A business after a morale-boosting 3-0 Europa League victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv last Thursday. Riccardo Orsolini scored his 11th goal of the season as Vincenzo Italiano's side secured a 10th-place finish in the league phase.

The Rossoblu have struggled to reach their best levels this season. Italiano's men failed to win ten of 11 previous fixtures before their routine win against Maccabi.

Italiano's side endured a surprisingly poor run of form at Renato Dall'Ara. The Rossoblu lost four of their last five home Serie A games. They had avoided defeat in their first six fixtures of the season.

Defensive vulnerabilities have been the biggest concern for the home side. Bologna kept just one clean sheet in their last 17 games. Thirteen of those fixtures finished with BTTS.

Past the midway point in the Serie A season, Bologna sit ninth in the division, 17 points behind AC Milan.

AC Milan Extend Unbeaten Run

AC Milan come into Tuesday's Serie A clash after a somewhat fortuitous 1-1 draw against Roma nine days ago. Koni De Winter gave Milan a surprise second-half lead before Lorenzo Pellegrini levelled matters with a 74th minute penalty.

Despite relentless home pressure - Roma recorded an XG of 2.72 - Massimiliano Allegri's side held on for a point at the Stadio Olimpico.

Il Diavolo have been in solid, if unspectacular, form in the past month or so. Unbeaten in their last seven games, Milan were held to draws in three of their last five matches, including both of two previous road fixtures.

An improved side since the appointment of Allegri, Milan scored at least one goal in each of 15 previous Serie A games. Still, the Rossoneri remain active in the market after a move for Crystal Palace forward Jean-Phillipe Mateta fell through on deadline day.

Placed second in Serie A, the Rossoneri have become a tough side to beat this season. Allegri's men lost just one of 22 league fixtures, while they remain unbeaten in 11 away league games since August (W6, D5).

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Bologna (4-2-3-1) Massimo Pessina; Nadir Zortea, Nicolo Casale, Torbjorn Heggem, Charalampos Lykogiannis; Remo Freuler, Lewis Ferguson; Jonathan Rowe, Jens Odgaard, Benjamín Domínguez; Ciro Immobile.

Bologna boss Italiano could be without Jhon Lucumí, who is listed as doubtful, while goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski remains unavailable.

AC Milan (3-5-2) Mike Maignan; Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Koni De Winter; Alexis Saelemaekers, Samuele Ricci, Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot, Davide Bartesaghi; Christopher Nkunku, Rafael Leao.

Head coach Allegri has a strong squad available for selection. Mexican forward Santiago Gimenez is the only confirmed injury absentee.

The Italian boss spoke of the need for improvement in his squad after last week's draw at Roma.

"There are moments during the games that we can improve on, for example, we risked conceding to Roma after 15 seconds of play. We need to improve in that area and in others, while keeping our final objective firmly in mind"

Verdict

Both teams should get on the scoresheet with recent form and past encounters suggesting a strong chance of goals at both ends. BTTS is my first choice, while I also fancy the spoils to be shared on Tuesday.
