Brighton Get Amongst the Goals at Home

Brighton are fifth in the Premier League following a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign. The south coast side have lost just three of their opening 13 matches and scored 21 goals.

The Seagulls’ only recent defeat came at Man United in a 4-2 defeat. They hit back with three wins from four, including home victories against Leeds 3-0 and Brentford 2-1.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side continued their good run of form with a 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest. Brighton had 2 XG and Maxim De Cuyper and Stefanos Tzimas scored the winning goals.

Aston Villa Less Convincing on the Road

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are one place above Brighton in fourth spot. The Villans have won 11 of their last 13 games in all competitions.

Villa’s only recent defeats came on the road at Go Ahead Eagles 2-1 and Liverpool 2-0. The Midlands outfit responded to the Liverpool loss with league wins against Bournemouth 4-0 and Leeds away 2-1.

The Villans won a fifth consecutive match on Sunday after beating Wolves 1-0 at home. Villa had the better chances with six shots on target and Boubacar Kamara scored on 67 minutes.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Brighton (4-2-3-1): Bart Verbruggen; Mats Wieffer, Jan Paul van Hecke, Lewis Dunk, Ferdi Kadioglu; Carlos Baleba, Yasin Ayari, Yankuba Minteh, Georginio Rutter, Diego Gomez; Danny Welbeck

Midfield duo Solly March and James Milner are sidelined with injuries. Defender Adam Webster is out but attacker Karou Mitoma is close to a return.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler was pleased with Stefanos Tzimas’ first Brighton goal against Forest. The Seagulls manager said: “We are all pleased for Stef. He’s had to work hard to get used to the intensity of the Premier League. It’s a daily process and some things take time.”

The manager commented on the fitness concerns surrounding Georginio Rutter and Kaoru Mitoma, saying "We have to follow the procedure with Georginio, we have to continue to assess him. We hope he's available tomorrow. It was not concussion but of course you have to follow the procedure because we have to take care of the player's health."

"Kaoru was in training yesterday so he will train today and then we have to make a decision if he's an option for the squad but he's definitely really close."

Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Emiliano Martinez; Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, Lucas Digne; Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans, John McGinn, Morgan Rogers, Emiliano Buendia; Ollie Watkins

Defender Tyrone Mings is ruled out due to a hamstring issue and midfielder Ross Barkley is not going to appear before 2026.

Unai Emery provided an update on Barkley, saying his injury "is more than we expected. I don’t know exactly but maybe 8-12 weeks.

"Hopefully it will be a bit less. It is a pity because he was helping us a lot and so close to being in the starting team."

Verdict

Brighton are a high-scoring home side and Aston Villa see plenty of goals on the road. It’s worth sticking with BTTS and over 2.5 goals in this Premier League clash.
