Canada is set to face off against Iceland in Toronto and is anticipated to leverage its roster depth to achieve victory. Despite the absence of several standard players, Canada's team possesses the talent necessary to outmatch Iceland, who have been struggling recently. With home advantage on their side, Canada is tipped for a win, indicating confidence in their current lineup's abilities. This forthcoming match highlights the importance of team depth and strategic play, particularly when key players are unavailable.

Iceland looked poor in their last two competitive games, while Canada are building momentum for upcoming World Cup 2026 matches. I will back the Reds to win in Toronto.

Key Stats

  • Canada have won their last 2 matches.
  • Iceland have lost their last 2 matches.

Iceland Lead H2H

These two sides locked horns four times so far, Iceland winning on two occasions, two games ending without a winner.

Reds Preparing for the World Cup 2026

Canada have played series of friendly matches in late 2025, preparing for the upcoming World Cup as one of the co-hosts.

They are currently unbeaten for four games straight, streak which started with two back to back draws against Colombia and Ecuador, while wrapping up 2025 with a 2-0 win over Venezuela.

Jesse Marsch’s side locked horns against Guatemala in mid-January, claiming a 1-0 victory in front of the home crowd, Jacen Russell-Rowe finding the net in the 66th minute.

Iceland Not Looking Great

Iceland are coming off unsuccessful World Cup 2026 qualifiers, finishing 3rd in Group D behind France and Ukraine with just seven points after six matches.

They kept the qualifying hope alive in mid-November with a 2-0 road victory against Azerbaijan, but lost to Ukraine in the deciding match with the same scoreline a couple of days later.

Iceland’s most recent appearance was in late February, suffering a heavy 4-0 loss to Mexico where they had 0.80-4.67 expected goals and 4-24 shots.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Canada (4-4-2) Maxime Crepeau, Joel Waterman, Luc de Fougerolles, Derek Cornelius, Richie Laryea, Niko Sigur, Mathieu Choiniere, Tajon Buchanan, Jonathan David, Ali Ahmed, Cyle Larin

Canada will be without their captain Alphonso Davies due to an injury, Sam Adekugbe also sidelined with similar problems. Cyle Larin has the most appearances for the national team on this roster 87, scoring 30 goals. Jonathan David is the top scorer with 37 goals.

Iceland (4-3-3) Elias Rafn Olafsson, Valgeir Lunddal Thorhallsson, Sverrir Ingi Ingason, Hordur Magnusson, Logi Tomasson, Hakon Arnar Haraldsson, Isak Bergmann Johannesson, Stefan Teitur Ellertsson, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Willum Thor Willumsson, Orri Okarsson

Verdict

Canada are missing some standard players, but this roster has enough depth to outplay struggling Iceland. A home win is tipped in Toronto.
