Nottingham Forest and Newcastle are both coming off high-scoring matches and are prone to both scoring and conceding. Forest have improved their league position thanks to a scoring streak and are undefeated in seven league matches, while Newcastle, BTTS specialists, recently snapped a losing streak with a strong win over Brighton. With multiple injuries on both sides, the recommendation is to expect an open, attacking match. The best bets are BTTS Yes and Over 2.5 Goals, with value also on Over 3.5 Goals.

H2H - Plenty of Recent Goals

Newcastle have a 58-35 advantage against Nottingham Forest, alongside 27 draws.

Nottingham Forest Getting Amongst the Goals

Nottingham Forest have climbed to six points clear of the Premier League's bottom three after improved recent form. The Tricky Trees are undefeated in seven consecutive league fixtures and have scored 18 goals.

Vitor Pereira’s team won five matches in a row in all competitions from April to early May. They also sealed league wins over Burnley 4-1, Sunderland 5-0 and Chelsea 3-1 during that streak.

The Reds lost for the first time since March after a heavy 4-0 Europa League defeat at Aston Villa. Forest allowed 2.58 XG, faced 18 shots, conceded in the first half, and let in three goals in the second period.

Newcastle Are BTTS Specialists

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle have seen BTTS in 66% of their Premier League matches this season. Only one other side in the top-flight has seen more BTTS results this season.

The Toon had a big drop off in form during a recent five-match losing streak. Newcastle conceded 14 goals and scored five in that period.

The Magpies also lost three away games during their losing run at Barcelona 7-2, Crystal Palace 2-1 and Arsenal 1-0.

The north east outfit were much improved in a 3-1 home win against Brighton last time out. Howe's side had 3.15 XG and goals from William Osula, Dan Burn and Harvey Barnes sealed a much-needed win.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Nottingham Forest (4-4-2): Stefan Ortega; Murillo, Nikola Milenkovic, Morato, Neco Williams; Omari Hutchinson, Nicolas Dominguez, Elliot Anderson, Dilane Bakwa; Igor Jesus, Chris Wood

Winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and goalkeeper John Victor are injured and won’t feature. Defenders Nicolo Savona and Wily Boly are also sidelined with knee injuries.

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Nick Pope; Kieran Trippier, Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, Dan Burn; Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali; Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock, Anthony Gordon; William Osula

Defensive trio Emil Krafth, Tino Livramento and Fabian Schar are sidelined due to injury.

Lewis Miley has also been ruled out of the Nottingham Forest match following a training ground injury. Eddie Howe provided further details on the midfielder and said, “It was an innocuous moment, he was training on Tuesday, he slipped, no other player was involved.

“He was unable to continue, and it was a little more serious than we thought.”

Verdict

Nottingham Forest and Newcastle struggled to keep the Premier League goals out. An open game is likely at the City Ground and it’s worth sticking with goals on Sunday.
